Blaze (Japanese: もうか Raging Flames) is an ability introduced in Generation III. Thirteen Pokémon have this ability; each one of them is a member of the evolution family of Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, or Isshu's Template:Type2 starter Pokémon.

Effect

In battle

When a Pokémon with Blaze uses a Template:Type2 move, the power will increase by 1.5x if the user has less than or equal to 33% of its maximum HP remaining.

Outside of battle

Blaze has no effect outside of battle.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Blaze will deal double the damage if the Pokémon using it is below 25% of its HP.

Dual ability

No Pokémon have Blaze as one of their two abilities.

In the anime

Blaziken. Blaziken's body becomes surrounded by a fiery aura.

Chimchar Chimchar's body becomes surrounded by fire, or the flame on Chimchar's backside grows larger and its fire attacks become more powerful.

Monferno Monferno's eyes glow red and the flame on its tail grows to a massive size, powering up Monferno's Fire-type attacks.

Infernape Infernape's eyes glow red, its flame on its head grows larger, and its fire attacks become more powerful.
