Welcome to Bulbapedia, CWallace!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Thanks! --PattyMan 05:57, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Actually, that was because of my signature messing up. I normally wouldn't do that. Thanks for the info though! --C. Wallace Shout out! 18:15, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
You're welcome. PattyMan 20:49, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
I'm confused. If I enter the correct time stamp for the post it is invalid since it's after the fact? I assumed that putting the correct time stamp rather than declaring the comment unsigned is more clerically correct. For clarification, is that against the guidelines for editing? --C. Wallace Shout out! 21:41, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
That's still going against the Signature Policy in my opinion as the edit made shows it at a different time instead of the time the comment was made. PattyMan 01:24, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Understood. The last revision made listed the correct original posting time of the comment, nevertheless as you said the Signature Policy does not allow for entry of the correct time signature after being unsigned. That does make sense. Thanks for clarifying. --C. Wallace TALK 04:28, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Unsigned comments

Please do not re-sign unsigned comments, as they give off the wrong timestamp. Thank you.--ForceFire 06:14, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Got it. I had a problem with my signature, the span wasn't working right. Sorry about that, and thanks for letting me know! --C. Wallace Shout out! 18:17, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Link templates

I know you're at least partially aware of these since I've seen you mention/use them before, but remember to use link templates when applicable to reduce code and/or avoid linking to redirects or disambiguations, eg. {{m|Thunder Shock}} instead of [[Thunder Shock (move)|Thunder Shock]], and {{AP|Pikachu}} instead of [[Ash's Pikachu|Pikachu]]. A full list of link templates can be found here.--Cold (talk) 18:25, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I'm still getting used to the Bulba-specific link templates, and it's super helpful that you posted a list! I had looked over it but it seems like I have to do some digging to find the infor pages. By the way, could you share with me how to find the source code for templates on here? (i.e. Time-based templates similar to the one on Shoal Cave) C.Wallace (Talk|Contribs) 18:59, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
Most templates used across multiple pages can be found under the Template: namespace (such as Template:P). The Shoal Cave timers, on the other hand, seem to be coded directly into the page, which I'm guessing is because they're specific to the article. You can find the source code for those just by editing the page.
If you try to edit a page, there's also a list of templates used on the page right below the editbox.--Cold (talk) 00:32, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
