According to the press release that announced the games, the new titles will take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world.[1] The first footage from the game, a cutscene showing Groudon and Kyogre manipulating the weather via their respective Abilities, was revealed three days after the games' first announcement.[2] One month after the games' announcement, it was revealed that Groudon and Kyogre can undergo Primal Reversion becoming Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, respectively.[3]A number of new Mega Evolutions will be debuted in this game, including Mega Sceptile, Mega Swampert, Mega Sableye, Mega Metagross, Mega Altaria, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Salamence.[4] [5]
The July issue of CoroCoro magazine revealed that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will retain Ruby and Sapphire's original player characters Brendan and May; in addition, Steven Stone, the Mach Bike, and the Acro Bike will return for the first time since Pokémon Emerald. The August issue of CoroCoro revealed the return of Pokémon Contests, and that Pokémon will be able to Mega Evolve during their appeal. Each of the Pikachu costumes has an associated move. Pikachu Rock Star gets Meteor Mash; Pikachu, Ph.D gets Electric Terrain; Pikachu Pop Star gets Draining Kiss; Pikachu Belle gets Icicle Crash; Pikachu Libre gets Flying Press. Horde Battles will also be returning. Similarly, trainer horde battles will be making their debut.
