== Move to Aether Foundation (Trainer class) ==
In the game's text data, they use "Aether Foundation" as a trainer class string, and Employee is used as the name string. Faba and Battle Tree employees use the Aether Foundation trainer class, but have names separate from "Employee."  (e.g. Employees in the Battle Tree include Aether Foundation Luke and Aether Foundation Haley.) The evidence is basically [https://projectpokemon.org/research/sunmoon/gametext.txt here], where Aether Foundation is in the Trainer class txt file but Employee is in  the trainer name text file.
I know this may be inconsistent with other naming conventions we use here, like Team Rocket Grunt and Team Skull Grunt, but the difference is that there are a bunch of Employees (I guess including Faba postgame) that actually use real names and the simple Aether Foundation class. {{indent}}Pages have been updated. "Aether Foundation (Trainer class)" now simply covers Aether Foundation as a technical Trainer class. Whereas the general info about the Employees is covered here on the "Aether Foundation Employee (Trainer class)" page. I've also added the Move template, as moving this to '''Aether Foundation Employee''' seems to fit in as part of the separate, ongoing discussion to remove the (Trainer class) disambiguator from the other Grunt pages. It anyone going to put the Aether Foundation employees sprites? [EDIT] Nevermind. Reppop (talk) 03:30, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Move to Aether Foundation (Trainer class)

In the game's text data, they use "Aether Foundation" as a trainer class string, and Employee is used as the name string. Faba and Battle Tree employees use the Aether Foundation trainer class, but have names separate from "Employee." (e.g. Employees in the Battle Tree include Aether Foundation Luke and Aether Foundation Haley.) The evidence is basically here, where Aether Foundation is in the Trainer class txt file but Employee is in the trainer name text file.

I know this may be inconsistent with other naming conventions we use here, like Team Rocket Grunt and Team Skull Grunt, but the difference is that there are a bunch of Employees (I guess including Faba postgame) that actually use real names and the simple Aether Foundation class. TehPerson (talk) 02:45, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

Faba postgame is the only case of an Aether employee using his name that I am aware of. Others who are battled have unique trainer classes. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong; I'm only going off memory here. Xolroc (talk) 02:51, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
You have to get far enough in the Battle Tree and Royal to see Employees using their own names instead of generic ones, as mentioned before. The ones in the Tree I ran into are Aether Foundation Luke and Harvey (male) and Aether Foundation Heidi and Haley (female). I forgot the name of the one I saw in Royal. They use the VS portraits on in the second row. TehPerson (talk) 03:00, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
I know this is more than a year old, but the issue hasn't been resolved and I think the evidence you've presented is ironclad. I've added the merge template to the top of the page to try to draw more attention to the problem. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 23:01, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
Old discussion is old but I created a draft for this merge and it seems like a no-brainer. Landfish7 07:47, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
This draft looks fantastic! I say we go ahead with it. --Boblers (talk) 07:44, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
The thing is, grunts always have the class "TEAMNAME" and the name "Grunt" (or "Employee" in this particular case) internally (see Talk:Team Skull Grunt (Trainer class)#Split suggestion). I don't think that really justifies deleting the Employee page, making the only place where we cover them putting Faba on equal footing—any more than it would make sense to move "Team Rocket Grunt (Trainer class)" to "Team Rocket (Trainer class)" and cover Jessie and James there too (since they use "Team Rocket" as their Trainer class in Let's Go); or move "Team Skull Grunt (Trainer class)" to "Team Skull (Trainer class)" and cover Gladion's Trainer class there too. I think team grunts having their own dedicated page is a good thing.
The proposal that makes the most sense to me is to make a dedicated "TEAMNAME (Trainer class)" page (which in this particular case, we already have), and remove "(Trainer class)" from the title of the grunt page. --SnorlaxMonster 12:42, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
So just to be clear, you're suggesting we have both an Aether Foundation (Trainer class) page and a separate Aether Foundation Employee page? I might be able to make some draft examples for those later so we can see what that would look like. Landfish7 12:47, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Pages have been updated. "Aether Foundation (Trainer class)" now simply covers Aether Foundation as a technical Trainer class. Whereas the general info about the Employees is covered here on the "Aether Foundation Employee (Trainer class)" page. I've also added the Move template, as moving this to Aether Foundation Employee seems to fit in as part of the separate, ongoing discussion to remove the (Trainer class) disambiguator from the other Grunt pages. Landfish7 06:11, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

Return to "Aether Foundation Employee (Trainer class)" page.
