Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Hfc2x!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here!TESHIGIGAS 20:26, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Open Mouth Blastoise

Can u show me how Hydro Cannon comes out of the mouth? It makes more sense that it comes out of the cannons on its shell!--KukiTalk 22:55, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Get a Blastoise in FireRed, teach it Hydro Cannon and then go to Cerulean Cave until you get to fight with a Ditto.
  • Let the Ditto transform into Blastoise.
  • Do whatever to not make the wild Ditto faint until it uses Hydro Cannon and voila.
I know it's weird, since it's name says "Hydro Cannon ", but there is no possible way to make a Blastoise sprite shoot from its Cannons. hfc2X 23:00, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

EV Reducing Berries

Can I ask how you calculated that certain berries take away 5 EV points in Emerald? Because I just tried it myself and think that it actually takes away 10 EV points. Here's how I did it, sorry that it's a little difficult to explain:

First, I got a newly hatched Wurmple and didn't battle with it at all. Then I went to Lilycove and bought 12 HP Ups and withdrew a Pomeg berry. (Decreases HP points.) I used 10 HP Ups on the Wurmple to get 100 HP points, which is the limit for a vitamin. (I tried an 11th just to make sure, but it didn't work.) Then I used the Pomeg berry to lower the HP points. If it lowers by 5, there would be 95 points, and if it lowers by 10, there would be 90. Because of the restrictions that vitamins have, they will only work when a Pokemon has 90 points or lower. Well, when I used my 11th HP Up, it worked. So the berry I used would have to have lowered the HP by at least 10 points. (No more than 19 though, because I tried using my 12th HP Up and it didn't work.) Correct me if I'm wrong on anything, or else it's possible that different berries decrease by different amounts. I hope this all makes sense (cause it took me a while to type). --EV Love 17:40, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm not really sure of it, but the article says that EVs are reduced to 100 if the EVs are over 100. So I tried to reset the EVs for my Groudon (which I know it has 255 Attack EVs), and which acording to the article I had to use 11 Kelpsy berries to lower it to 0, but I ended up using 21 of them. Maybe it doesn't have a fixed value, I mean it may vary between the Pokémon or level. hfc2X 20:34, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Vitamins work when a Pokémon has less than 100, though. Even up to 99. TTEchidna 22:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I just discovered that while I was doing some tests. But the only conclusion I've come to is that it's possible that when you used you first berry, the points were dropped to 200, similar to how they drop to 100. Then you used 20 more berries, each decreasing it by 10. But I guess we'll never know unless someone finds a way to view EVs or find the answer in the games coding. --EV Love 03:12, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Celebii

From what event is the Celebii from? And don't put your spam on some of the pages--CoolPikachu! 05:15, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Well I doubt it was an official event (Nintendo surely doesn't know that my country exists)... it was just a guy that was giving some Pokémon away, but anyways I got it :D. it still looks official to me. These are the photos of my Celebi:
HCelebi1.jpg HCelebi2.jpg
It shows "Met in a fateful encounter" as you can see in the first photo. Well I didn't want to put spam in the page xD but I started that section to know if there was any other way than receiving it from Nintendo ('cause I've always wanted to get an event Pokémon). Anyways without glitches or cheating I got one so I'm happy, and I wanted to share it with you (at least to appear in your Pokédexes). hfc2X 21:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
It looks real and cool (but it's not real) but cool anyways--CoolPikachu! 21:32, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Do you think you could do the shiny and female Platinum sprites for Snorlax, Steelix, Machamp, Rapidash, and Giratina?--☆Tavisource 01:24, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't realize they existed xD well ok, I'll do them =) hfc2X 01:25, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Evoboxes

Well, since we don't have a cycling gif of the RGBY, GSC, or RSFRLGE sprites... why ought we do that for Platinum's sprites vs DP? Just replace the ###.png file we have already with the 80x80 sprite from Platinum... or better yet, wait for Platinum to come out so that Zhen and the others can rip the sprites from the game and do a mass-upload with BulbaBot. TTEchidna 18:29, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

That is, provided BulbaBot's not trying to kill us whenever Girasol, Opal, or whatever the third to Diamond or Pearl's going to be whenever it comes out (face it, the odds of Platnium sticking is 0%). --Shiningpikablu252 18:32, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
I thought it was better to have a special evobox for Giratina and Shaymin, as they have different sprites in both games for their base form... check Platinum's page an see that Shaymin has a different sprite in Platinum. That GIF is only for the evobox, because there is no way to put it in the Sprite template. hfc2X 18:52, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
So does Bidoof... It's just the third version sprite difference like there always has been... TTEchidna 05:31, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Anyway, I'm gonna need you to update Image:Spr 4p 487.png, Image:Spr 4p 487 s.png, Image:Spr 4p 492.png, and Image:Spr 4p 492 s.png with the Platinum sprites of their normal DP formes. The alt formes go to their own filenames... which I've already done.
And thus this is why we should have waited. PAK Man, you were right. We should have waited for more information before assuming that Giratina and Shaymin would alter formes like Deoxys did in Gen III. Well, get to it, Hfc2x! TTEchidna 06:40, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, I need to know where did you get the sprite for Giratina? 'cause I don't have the new sprite for shaymin... hfc2X 18:21, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm working now on the sprite... be patient please...hfc2X 00:09, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

WHat did you do to the Missingno. sprite?!

It was the perfect size before! Now it looks all wierd and shrunken! Please change it back. Oh, BTW, you did a good job on the Missingno. page. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 16:31, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Well it is at its actual size now, as Gen I and II sprites are all 60x60 pixel sprites, Gen III are 64x64 and Gen IV 80x80. The MissingNo. sprite was an 80x80 sprite and it made it look weird in the evobox as the other sprites are 60x60. hfc2X 18:25, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Oh. Now it looks normal. Sorry, for some reason, it looked wierd before. Maybe it was just my computer or something. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 19:18, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Huh?

What do you mean the 210 Pokemon aren't in the Sinnoh Dex? Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, etc...are all one of the 210 Pokemon.--☆Tavisource 03:37, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
The 151 D/P Sinnoh Pokemon and the new 59 Pokemon make up the 210.--☆Tavisource 03:39, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
nopes, the 210 Pokémon are from a collection that will be distributed in Japan, and they have nothing to do with the Sinnoh Dex. Please check the message of Unown Lord here: Talk:Pokémon_Platinum_Version#151_plus_52.3F hfc2X 03:43, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
So it was never inferred that the said anything about 59 and they'd just mentioned about 210? But what about Giratina and Shaymin? Don't they deserve a space in the Dex?--☆Tavisource 03:47, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I think that Giratina deserves a place, but Shaymin doesn't, as Shaymin still is only obtainable by events and clearly the Glacidea Flower is too (as requires Shaymin). So Shaymin has been upgraded, but still is a national Pokémon and not a Sinnoh one. hfc2X 04:07, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
This is the first time that a Pokemon not included in the dex is mascot, so if the game director is smart enough to notice, the Sinnoh Dex in Platinum should be different or in other sense, altered. Don't you think?--☆Tavisource 04:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
It can be modified, but seems controversial to me. They can do it if they want, but is like changing a Pokémon's cry (you know, something distinctive for a Pokémon), and they've done it already. I see it possible, but I'll not like it anyways. hfc2X 04:14, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
K...but anyways, what the hell is that green Pokemon silhouette? I've been trying to figure out since the begining. People say that some are Rotom and some may be Castform, but the green thing looks like...well, it looks like an origami version of Turtwig.--☆Tavisource 04:17, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, it always looked like Turtwig to me xD I don't know, but the purple, blue and red ones seem Rotom to me, as they have the horn up there... hfc2X 04:19, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Yes, that makes sense, but the orange one looks like a Baltoy with a Piplup head...not kidding.--☆Tavisource 04:20, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
HAHAHAHAHAHA LOL xD yeah... hey you're the first person here that chats with me like this xD. hfc2X 04:31, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Well, do you wanna know some trivia about us? Well, you registered into Bulbapedia just 10 days after me and you still seem like you've been here for a long time! Btw, do you know how old TTEchidna is? He's a cool guy, but sometimes, it seems as if he has two different personalities, one in the morning, and one at night.

Here's more weird trivia:

  • We both know two main languages
  • TTEchidna, you, and me are all cool...(that was more like a fact, not trivia...)
  • And also, not to be mean, but you hate dislike my sprites and even opposed me for nomination and I STILL think you are cool! (Don't ask me why). Btw, Optamatum is in a bad mood and is deleting everything on his page, so you might wanna stay out...but the weird thing is that he says that the whole rebellion thing was his fault...I don't get it...I wasn't even here that day of the rebellion. I had came back the next day and everyone was mad at me...it was weird. And by the way, the Shaymin and Giratina sprite were already ripped before you ripped them...I did not use yours....I had Tarscor rip them. But anyways, it's late here, so I'll chat with you tmr. See ya.--☆Tavisource

--☆Tavisource 05:31, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, Tavi, I have reasons for everything:
  • I just don't want to be cool... if you think so, well, thank you. xD
  • I know nothing about rebellions, so I cant' help you :S
  • I don't hate your sprites, but I just don't like them because I don't like the anime and obviously your sprites are based on the anime... anyways they're very well done.
  • I didn't understand that about the Shaymin sprite xD
  • I opposed your nomination, not to be mean, was because being an Admin doesn't just mean being cool... it carries A LOT of responsability, and that means that you have to be very strict, even if you don't like. Also you NEED to be very arbitrary in everything you do, and based on your opposition on MAGNEDETH's nomination, you don't like strict people and you're not being arbitrary. I can see that the people that support you think that being and Admin is just being cool, but it is REALLY complex, more than they can just think of. Well I just don't want to be mean, like I said, but I only want you to be a good Admin, and I know that someday you'll be =) hfc2X 15:32, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
I think you've got it ALL wrong...you don't have to be strict in order to be an admin. I would know this because I have sites that I work for too...There's more to being admin than you think. And I don't think someone is cool just because they're an admin...I've been admins for sites for YEARS now, and I don't see why admins HAVE to be strict like that...it's fine as long as they're doing their job right. And you also say that it carries a lot of responsibility...well, with experience as admin, I can get all responsibilities strait foward...no problem. But anyways, why do you hate the anime? What about the manga? So to tell the truth...yes, I'd be happy to be admin, but it all depends on the people here at Bulbapedia....think about this...everyone here are all fans of Pokemon...we're one family with the same interest...why can't we just support each other? But to me, the most important thing about being admin is that he/she must be kind to others, doing his/her job right, and that's basically all they need...trust me...for me, the responsibilities for being admin isn't that much...so what do you say...friends?--☆Tavisource 00:44, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, I guess you're right, because you've been an Admin before. I figure most of things, because I really don't have much experience in websites. I spend too little time on the computer so I don't participate in sites or stuff like that... this is the only site where I participate actively (if so...). Well Tavi, I don't make friends that easy xD but if you would like to add me to your friends list, go ahead :D (the reason I hate the anime is already stated in my user page) hfc2X 04:35, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Emerald Sprites

Hey, so where do you get your Pokémon Emerald Shiny Sprites (like Venasaur)?? I would really like it if you could tell me. --Blazaking - Fire Pokémon Fan 05:25, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

I only change the palletes to the normal ones. hfc2X 15:23, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Ho-oh (Pokémon)

Yo! You undid my edit! According to the manga, it's how you spell it. Besides, knowing a bit of Japanese, you wouldn't say HoU-OU, you would say Hou-Ou.--RexRacer -talk 04:02, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

But the name is Ho-Oh in ALL instances. MoldyOrange 11:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I know. I was talking about the Japanese spelling--RexRacer -talk 11:35, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Anyways if it was the real spelling, then it should be written ホゥオゥ, not ホ. Although I really doubt that there may be any chiisai-u in its name. hfc2X 17:59, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
The only case it will be pronounced 'HoU-oU' will be if you write it ホウーオウー, but that's clearly not the actual spelling. hfc2X 18:16, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh...

Yeah, I thought someone in Lt. Surge's gym said something about Zapdos but I guess that was speculation on my part. Sorry.--Blazevoir!! 23:02, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Baby G, chill out, don't cause arguments here...why not just enjoy your time here and move the page back if you haven't already.--Tavisource 23:07, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
But the capital W is correct, per every other userbox I've seen. --Baby G (talk to me) (see my edits) 23:07, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
It doesn't matter! Just leave it where it is, but don't move any others! MoldyOrange 23:08, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
But anyways no one cares. I REALLY like everything proper capitalized, but in these cases, I don't care because I don't care for the page coding anyway... hfc2X 23:09, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
But the old template is now corrupted on so many user's pages....heck? why are we talking about the same thing on two talk pages? Continue this talk on TTEchidna's page...it originated from there.--Tavisource 23:10, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

YOU DORKSTICK-SKUNK-BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--DRAGONBEASTX 03:07, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Huh? First you say that you don't mean to insult him and then you insult him? And, talk page comments are not allowed to be removed, especially as they are not insulting or vandalism. Cherrim animation

I saw your recent edit to Cherrim. Does that mean that Castform has them too? I just put the static sprites into the emerald table.--MisterE13 02:24, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

No, oddly, Castform has not an animation for its other sprites. But look at this: Image:Cherrimanimation.png.
It is mostly a leftover animation. hfc2X 05:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I can't see if that moves or not 'cause I usually use IE and even my version of Firefox is so bad it can't even see it but if your sure about it and Castform that's great.--MisterE13 14:20, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Magby?

Hey, what's up? I was lookin' at your page and I saw that you had wanted a Magby. I'll gladly give one to you, but are you sure you want the Magmarizer? I'm pretty sure that it doesn't evolve with it unless it's already a Magmar. - unsigned comment from Dark Boye (talkcontribs)

Yes I'm sure, 'cause I don't have LeafGreen, so I can't have a Magmar anyways. That's killing two birds with one rock. I don't connect often, so it would be a little hard to trade with you. hfc2X 04:43, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Animated sprite question

Hey, I see that you recolour the Emerald Sprites to make them shiny. I recoloured all the frames of Eevee on MS Paint and transferred them to GIMP, but I've done something wrong the the tranparency. I've uploaded it here, if you could fix it, then tell me what I did wrong, I'd really appreciate it, and then I'd be able to help you recolour Emerald sprites.
Cheers, Silver Eevee talk? contribs! 21:59, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, you don't have to use MS Paint first of all. I just change the pallette of the overall animation. I don't recolor them frame by frame. I think that's all. hfc2X 08:10, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

It's versus its

It's means it is. Its is the possessive form for it. You used the word incorrectly on the recent trivias you added: "Regarding it is flame, it is FireRed Pokédex entry says that it is life..." Fix them. MaverickNate 04:57, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

I noticed you propose a change, and then not even wait more than five minutes for other people to respond before you just up and did it. Not good. This is not good at all. Why would you even bother posting about it if you weren't planning on waiting for anyone else's opinion? Don't just make a change without waiting for anyone's opinion. That's just rather rude to those other people who edit--not even waiting to consider their opinion. I would really prefer not seeing you do this again. MaverickNate 19:55, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

That's ok, won't do it again. Now, take your pills and calm down. hfc2X 04:55, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Hidden Power's animation

When you mentioned Hidden Power's animation difference in DP, can you check if Platinum matches the DP one? Wasn't too sure about it myself. PattyMan 04:14, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

It's not the same. The Hidden Power animation in Platinum is the same as HG/SS, but not the same as D/P. hfc2X 10:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Userspace

Keep in mind that userspace editing is limited to one edit per day, as noted on the site notice. Since the mistake in your age code wasn't going to result in any problems related to redlinks/miscategorization/etc., you could and should have waited for another day to make the fix. Please be sure to keep an eye on the site notice regarding temporary userspace restrictions. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:08, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sorry. There was a notice while editing that says I was allowed to edit three times maximum. hfc2X 10:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Charge

Replying to your edit summary from the Charge article, which read: "Please give a valid reason for reverting or reword the sections to make differences more obvious."

The difference is that the Special Defense increase is listed as lasting "until the end of the turn" in Generation IV, while regular in Generation V. You were the one who originally submitted this Generation IV information, and I haven't checked if it is correct. However, the edit of yours which I've now had to revert twice lists the effect as "until the end of the turn" in both generations, which I can confirm is false. Yvnr (talk) 13:20, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

It's okay, this is actually a good reason. hfc2X 04:32, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Multi-strike Moves in Gen III

Could you make sure that it also applies for Ruby or Sapphire, and Emerald? It may be that in those games, MSMs end after breaking a substitute, but continue in FR/LG. I've never heard of in-game mechanics changing in the same Gen, but there must be some reason why that trivia was in Gen IV and not III. --IWannaBeTheVeryBest 00:08, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Mirage Island Number - Your Analysis

Just wanted to say thank you so much for your analysis regarding what happens to the Mirage Island number! (It's the first time that I've apparently been mentioned on Tumblr, too, let alone contributing a question to such an analysis! XD) Sorry that it's taken me so long to notice that response; I mostly checked the talk page in the months prior to your response, but I never saw another reply and eventually the question kind of faded from my mind.. In any case, I left a response on the talk page for the Mirage Island article, posing some additional questions for your possible perusal, if you ever have the chance.

Also, I had a minor question regarding the analysis: When you mentioned "the value at 0x02026ABC is 0x57AA", in the Ruby screenshot's first row, I saw the "02026ABC" part in the left-most/first column, "57" in the second column, and "AA" in the third column. Were those the values/offsets that you were referring to as "0x57AA"? Later on, for the Emerald screenshot, I saw "0x02026DE4" in the first row and the left-most/first column, but I couldn't see the zeroes (00)... It might be due to the size of the screenshot, but it seems like the digits for the first values of the second and third columns (from the left) are different sizes, and both of them vaguely look like either a "0" or an "8".. Thanks in advance for clarifying this issue! Fenyx4 (talk) 04:16, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

"Pokérus remaining" byte

I noticed you were the one who added the info on byte 85 of the Gen III Pokémon data structure. I've got a question about that, however - it obviously isn't the same byte as the one in the encrypted data (with strain and number of days left). What is it, then? Your edit summary is "Pokérus remaining. Starts always at FF, but decrease speed depends on species and other factors...". Is it a ticker that continuously ticks down during play based on these "factors"? And if so, what happens when it reaches 0? Is the Pokémon cured of its Pokérus? Is a "day" removed from the encrypted byte? Or something else entirely?

Looking forward to your answer! LpSamuelm (talk) 17:12, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Spaceworld

Do NOT add information about the Spaceworld demo. It's validity is still being discussed. This is the only time you'll be warned about this. Thank you.--ForceFire 04:17, 23 October 2019 (UTC)

Curious you word it like that, since it makes it seem like there would still be actual discussion around the legitimaty matter. But from what I've gathered looking at most of staff's comments, no one seems to be against the legitimacy of it, and it's more a concern about the legality, but even then, if it would ever be implemented on the future, cues should be taken from Pokéwiki's article on the this.
However, at this point, you're the only person adamantly against its legitimacy, and the only person with the editing rights to actively be enforcing such measure. I'll respect your decision as per not go against the rules, but please don't be misleading. hfc2X 23:49, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
