Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, MisterE13!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:MisterE13/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • There are certain restrictions on the content and amount of userspace content a user is allowed. For details, see the Userspace policy
  • Unless prior permission is given, no user is permitted to edit another user's page. Furthermore, edits to other users' pages are permitted only if there are problems that spread to other parts of Bulbapedia, such as broken links that appear on the wanted pages, switching out duplicate images that appear on the Archives, etc.
  • Fan fictions, missions, riddles, games, and anything else deemed not suitable for the wiki will not be allowed. If you would like to add something, but do not know if it is acceptable, ask an administrator.
  • A list of administrators that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --Gywall(Talk) 14:04, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Minisprites

I remember that someone had ALL the minisprites on their userpage. Does anyone know whose it was?--MisterE13 19:58, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Template

i deleted it once, whyd you re-create it? we dont need that template. -- MAGNEDETH 03:07, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

well, you see, we already have a special Arceus table. it actually changes the picture every time you look at it, so, we dont really need it. if you want to keep the table for yourself, ill re-create the table and you can copy the code, and ill delete it again. though, i dont see the point in that. also, you dont have to go to my page to respond, you can do it here. it makes it easier to understand the conversation. -- MAGNEDETH 03:15, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't sure that you would be monitering my page as much as yours. I just thought it would be good to be able to find all the Arceus sprites at the same place without having to constantly refresh the page (the Form differences page only has the front sprites). But if you still think the template is a bad idea, sure do the re-creation thing and I'll move it to the "User:" namespace. I've got to go though now so I'll move it in the morning. By the way how was it for a first template?--MisterE13 03:27, 1 November 2008
im an admin, i see everything....but anyway, i dont see much need other than the fronts. if someone wants to see the Steel-type back sprite, all they have to do is go to the Archives. -- MAGNEDETH 03:30, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Remoraid

Here's the transparency of the sprite you wanted. For the record, that was officially the worst sprite EVER... the background had about 70 different shades of black (which ruins my usual perfectionist way of spriting with a Tolerance value of 0), and not a single one was actually black (none were 0,0,0)! I hope there wasn't any kind of outer border I missed; in any case it would be impossible for anyone to tell. LordArceus 00:34, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

We already have that--KukiTalk 00:35, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I know that. He gave me a sprite and I made it transparent; not really a hassle. LordArceus 00:39, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

But there's no use, it was a waste of time--KukiTalk 00:41, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Instead of going and finding the image on the slow-Internet computer I was using at the time, I simply made the sprite he provided transparent. I wasted, in fact, almost none of my time (no time wasted on anybody else's part), so...yeah. LordArceus 00:43, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Userspace edits

Hi. It seems that you have made 3 edits to your userpage today. In case you didn't know, Bulbapedia has a userspace policy that asks that users only edit their userpages 3 times a day at most. Since you have reached the 3 edit limit for today, please wait until tomorrow to make any more edits to your userpage. As a recommendation, you can use the "Show preview" button to allow you to see how your page is coming along without making too many edits. Thank you, --Coolピカチュウ! 03:10, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I apologize to all of Bulbapedia for momentarily forgetting the edit limit and editing once more to erase an extra break between two tables (kinda' funny how insignificant that last edit was eh?).

Re: Pokémon Trozei!

I'm really sorry about not answering you before, but I went on vacations and I had no computers near. Well: Unown really has different forms in Trozei!, but I don't think that Spinda and Catsform also have different forms. I can't say anything about Deoxys because I haven't seen one on my game yet. うずまきハルカ 23:20, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Alright, I'll do my best. うずまきハルカ 23:23, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

By the way...

Do you have an account on the Forums? I do. if not, I suggest getting one. SharKing Productions 01:27, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Why?????

Why do you have to change those Filed move sprites and have the previous ones deleted? Adding "-" is pretty pointless. *tc26* 03:56, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

It allows a template of mine to work right. It calls for the power of said moves and the current sprites do not have them included in their name. Check the "In side games" of any Pokémon from Ranger 2 to see the template.--MisterE13 04:00, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
I saw Espeon and it was pretty messed up. *tc26* 04:04, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
There we go, that's why I had to rename the images. Now that it's loaded, it works fine.--MisterE13 14:14, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Whoops, I think what happened is that I was editing a section of a page I had already signed when my finger slipped and I hit "Insert" which erased the beginning of my sig. When I put it back in, I must have typed it in wrong.--MisterE13 22:07, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Spotless Spinda

Here, I removed the sprites. YOu can use it for that table you are talking about...man, removing the spots takes longer than I thought...it took one full hour!--Tavisource 06:12, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Deoxys number correction error

When you edited the "Lists of Pokemon" you caused a format error when sorting by average. I agree that Deoxys should be set under one number as it is in the dex, but this error is disruptive and as such, I have reverted to a previous edition until you can fix this error. Kenji 03 06:53, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Custom sprites

What you mean by fix To-Do list...what ideas?--Tavisource 02:55, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Sections: Anime, Games, Manga... Tavi my boy, we may have some sprites that would technically fit with you little project from before either of us were around and that you might not even know about. Give me a chance, I'll do it tomorow and you can revert it if it displeases you.--MisterE13 02:59, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, but Custom Sprite Project is under Project Anime...yes, anime...we are not allowed to do Manga and game sprites. And anyways, making game sprites based on other game sprites don't make any sense at all.--Tavisource 01:59, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know about the Project Anime thing. The other two sections certainly weren't going to be as full as the anime one though. Games was probably just going to be Shadow Lugia and the Spinda. I don't read the manga, but I remember reading that, for example, all of Crystal's Pokémon have stars on them. Before I knew about the Project Anime thing, I thought it was a good idea but maybe ask a higher-up now.--MisterE13 02:11, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you

I've never had someone greet me on a wiki before, I'm glad I feel welcomed here. Chibiace 03:02, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

No problem (I'll respond here 'cause you say you've used wikis before and know how they work) the welcome is policy here. I try to do some whenever I can.--MisterE13 20:34, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

K

Sure--Tavisource 18:23, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

What's a "higher-up"? An admin? Oh...yeah...TTE...he helped organize the project. And we were to get rid of all game and manga sprites.--Tavisource 21:50, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
We have trouble getting it into gif. Sorry.--Tavisource 05:24, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Other users in the project? Are you kidding me? The other users don't even know what Transparency is. And trust me, I asked every possible user I could get hold of...try to download an image converter and I can send you the file. Thanks!--Tavisource 23:00, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Inadequacy? It isn't the Project's job to make animated files transparent and convert them to jpg. You've mistaken; I simply offered to make it transparent. The conversion, I've spoke to every single admin I could long before. The transparency was done by me, and so my work is done. Why don't you just download a converter and convert it that way? And so, this "inadequacy" is NOT well hidden. Everyone knows about this. And it has nothing to do with the project, so it's not the project's inadequacy.--Tavisource 21:48, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

That edit you made on my page...

I appreciate that you removed a template that was to be deleted, but, you know the Userspace policy. I'd have gotten around to it myself, despite some real life issues impeding my editing. Thnx for the concern though. --αワニノコ 03:10, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Read the userspace policy before trying to quote it. MisterE13 did nothing wrong. He removed a redlink in order to prevent it from reaching the wanted pages. That is allowed, and that's what we want users to do. He did nothing wrong. MaverickNate 03:15, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
OK, then. Thanks for the correction, Nate. MisterE13, feel free to ignore this. --αワニノコ 03:19, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Article

I like the article, but try to use {{OBP}} and {{Ga}} in your writing. Thanks! ht14 01:21, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Attract and Captivate

Next time you're trying to update a move article, make sure you do your research. I had to reword edits you made because your wording implied that Pokémon such as Magneton were able to learn both Attract and Captivate when it's a well-known fact that genderless Pokémon outside Mew are unable to learn both moves.

Additionally, you were a bit careless when it came to the Generation IV level-up info for Attract. Actually, you were very careless--you took it out entirely, making me have to restore it. Please be a bit more careful when trying to overhaul stuff in the future. --Shiningpikablu252 21:24, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I was in a rush and I was just trying to simplify it like we have for Regigigas and Rest and Protect. Don't worry though, I don't have a habit of screwing stuff like that up.--MisterE13 21:29, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Castform

I know this is late, but while I concur with the Castform alternate weather sprites for D/P/Pt and etc, there's NO WAY that Castform can show its sprite in its alternate forms in Gen III unless hacked. That's because either the player receives it from the Weather Institute or not at all... ht14 02:06, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Sure, go ahead and re-add it I suppose you can't really catch a Cherrim in the wild either so you can put it there too.--MisterE13 02:10, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Re-add what...? ht14 02:12, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
What are we talking about? If you mean that Cherrim's alternate sprites don't ever move, then I thought you were bringing it up because I had deleted some trivia regarding that a while back. It's probably a ???-type Arceus thing.--MisterE13 02:15, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
I was referring to a LONG time back where you initially gave me credit about no animation. It's nothing about me not getting any credit, just wanted to notify you, that's all. And about the ???-Arceus thing, it probably goes along the lines of that also. Who got that image anyway? ht14 02:20, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
All fixed, you have no idea how many times my opinion of that was changed. You can click the image to see who uploaded it.--MisterE13 02:25, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Psst

You put the "colspan="3"" into the row-altering one, which is why it didn't work. Also, don't bold the initialisms in the game names, people aren't that dumb... Pt's the chemical symbol anyway. TTEchidna 07:24, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

That's how ht14 started it.--MisterE13 07:28, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Either way it's unneeded. TTEchidna 08:05, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Template

I don't quite understand how to use it now...See Numel for details... ht14 02:13, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Never mind. However, we should still merge both of them together. See Sentret. ht14 02:45, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Final thing to bother you with...I already suggested to Trom to protect it. Oh, TTE's on. He could protect it...good work with the template... ht14 02:52, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Yo. Colored background, black letters. Just like the rest of the templates. Please. —darklordtrom 21:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
One last thing...again...some should be Emerald-exclusive because they appear in Battle Frontier holding the items. For instance, wild Ninetales. They'll have Rawst Berry, but cannot be found normally with it in the wild for R/S. ht14 01:25, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
I didn't think they could be caught. Do we need to mention them? —darklordtrom 01:28, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
I would think that's implied in the locations section (directly above it...)...also, version-exclusives might apply (Lunatone in Sapphire only...) Then there would be a lot of coding involved though... ht14 01:38, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Quite similar to the game locations template actually... ht14 17:31, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Being a pain is a hobby of mine. As such, would it be possible to make it closer in appearance to the likes of {{dex}}? That is, to have the white background/color text combination for games in which the Pokémon isn't present. And possibly have the paired versions side-by-side. —darklordtrom 20:37, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
Also, see Bulbasaur...it looks fine, I guess...just a bit big on the bottom half. Thanks for everything! ht14 20:18, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
No idea why, have Trom check it out. The footer also doesn't seem to take on the second type.--MisterE13 20:56, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Final thing. Notes section: talk about Frontier. See Ninetales for more info. It looks strange that there's no location for it in Emerald, yet there's wild held items. If you still don't understand, I'll try to say it in better terms. ht14 14:22, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
*cough* Hey, what do you think of this idea? ht14 12:05, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Random misspellings

Random misspellings do not need redirects. Nobody in their right mind would type in "Back Belt" looking for the Black Belt trainer class. --Shiningpikablu252 17:20, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Lowercase redirects

There was no reason to put up redirects ending in "(trainer class)" up for deletion just because "Lowercase spellings redirect automatically". This is only true of the search box, not when actually linked on a page. If the redirect Psychic (Trainer class) were to be deleted now, then that link would turn red when shown on the pages. It's because of this that the redirects need to stay. --Shiningpikablu252 14:23, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Image Redirection

Thank you for sorting that Mewtwo sprite issue out. It had been bugging me for a while. However, I believe I have seen such instances before on other X_(Pokémon) pages so would you be able to tell me how you did the redirection if it's not too much trouble, please? Thanks - ASecondOpinion1501 21:46, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Just write #redirect [[File:Example.png]] (don't put in the nowiki stuff though) if you need anything else, feel free to ask.--MisterE13 01:53, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Outdated stub templates

Only {{Stub}} is allowed. Learn how to use it correctly and then do it. MaverickNate 22:37, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

I put those in like 2 weeks ago, before the template was upgraded. I will be sure to use this one from now on though.--MisterE13 22:40, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Re: trainer class

If you check the history page, when english diamond and pearl is released, we also list down ace trainer and PI in the list. However, after that, many trainer class also follows, such as cooltrainer and Cool Trainer, Black Belt and blackbelt, even though it is just the spacing. They later decide not to list down these class since they are are not different trainer class and it had remained that way until the edits recently. about salon maiden and tower typhoon i am not sure. -Pokeant 23:34, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Just so you don't yell at me...

...like most admins... I'm just removing the extra Castform templates b/c there's no different mini sprites for Castform's alternate forms. It's also true for Cherrim, but not for Burmy (as we have separate sprites). If you disagree, you can talk to TTE, otherwise, go ahead and yell... ht14 02:47, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Cherrim never had any. I still think Castform should have them to show types and STAB but I don't tend to argue with TTE and was going to take them out anyway because of that.--MisterE13 03:20, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

See here. It's only animated on FireFox, but it leads to a misunderstanding. It could only be recruited in its non-shiny form... ht14 02:37, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

On a somwhat related note, our sprites of Notchie shouldn't have a space between 172 and n could you help. There should only be 4 affected.--MisterE13 01:45, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Just for the future...

... I tend to do mass multi-edits. See here as an example. There are some that are even greater, but that's just one for now... ht14 22:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Need you for a minute

Just found out the Giratina page has the same problem that it did earlier when I first edit it and can you modify the coding for the Pokéthlon stuff because even when I previewed it the second time I did it showed no problems or made I didn't look at it good enough. But at least I did my best with the previewing. -Tyler53841 20:42, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Also for your template updates on the talk pages, they are not apparently working, I think this a case where you need to contact an administrator to edit the template directly since those pages are locked. -Tyler53841 20:56, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Which ones?--MisterE13 21:18, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Of course Magikarp has a Sky Forme, didn't you know? ;P

Gahhh, just out of curiosity, how did you manage to do that fix on User:Landfish7/Fishtalk‎?? The change I made was exactly what you had done, but it ended up adding (and deleted) a bunch of random stuff that I didn't touch! D:

I'm just... curious if there was some extra step I had to take to make sure that weird stuff didn't happen (I thought I had a pretty good handle on this Wiki stuff...), or if it was just some weird fluke on my end, or what. *SO CONFUSED*

I'm constantly trying to learn more, so if you have any explanation/advice, it would be greatly appreciated. :D 梅子 20:23, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

You had removed a part that would have collapsed it (not terribly important) and you had removed the "S" from the template calling it as a menusprite (instead of just the one doing the Sky Forme thing). I've been here for about a year so yeah, I do know my way around a template or two but I'm not as good as some of the other guys around here. You're a lot better than I was when I started though so thumbs up.--MisterE13 01:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

DungeonPrevNext

When do you think you'll have time to perfect the template's 3 setting (the one for Sky)? You had it just about perfect on your second-to-last revision; all that needed fixing in that revision was a slight border on the right side. Unfortunately, your most recent revision reverted the colors on the 3 setting's left and right sides back to Time and Darkness colors, which Sky-exclusive dungeons have no business having.

If you think I'm crazy, try looking at the page for a Sky-exclusive dungeon such as Dark Ice Mountain and you'll see what I mean. --Shiningpikablu252 15:46, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Looks perfect now! --Shiningpikablu252 03:38, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry, I knew you weren't crazy, I had just been working on it for a while, figured it was time to turn in and hope that me or someone else would figure it out today ;). Thankfully I did.--MisterE13 03:39, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

You

Close Combat

It is clearly a punching move. It could be noted on the category page that Close Combat doesn't get boosted by Iron Fist. CuboneKing 19:20, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Punching moves are moves that get boosted by Iron Fist.--MisterE13 19:22, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Nidoran evoboxes

Noooooo no no no no. Stop, that's no good. Don't. I'm reverting it. --electAbuzzzz 20:54, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

OK sorry I guess I should have checked with an admin first I was just trying to display another of the franchise's more unique evolution families. Why can't we use it though?--MisterE13 20:59, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
"Should've checked" is exactly right. Don't mess with big-ass templates like that without us, especially not on species pages. It looked very confusing, and was irrelevant to the evolution section. We don't display it for Volbeat and Illumise, and we don't display it for the Nidos. Nor should we. Not there. --electAbuzzzz 21:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
I have actually been working on some modifications to include Volbeat and Illumise (as well as fossils but that's neither here nor there) in fact, they work great as did the Nidoran stuff.--MisterE13 21:56, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Neeeeeeh. It just looks bad. The evoboxes are wide enough already that we'll have some of our users still running older computers whining about it. Look, wait for Gen V to implement this stuff. Plus, Ditto breeding never results in Illumise for Volbeat, anyway, last I checked... TTEchidna 22:14, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
What about fossils? And Legendary trios and duos? I know you had toyed with the second idea at one point.--MisterE13 22:18, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Plus Eevee's is just as big as the Nido one.--MisterE13 01:47, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, but eh. And Eevee's the lone exception; we don't want six different evoboxes to be like that. TTEchidna 22:37, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Plus Deoxys, Castform and Rotom but who's counting?--MisterE13 22:40, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
BLAH ON CASTFORM I DON'T DISCUSS THE CLOUD. TTEchidna 23:24, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

GAH!

Do you not notice how all the Unown cards now say Unown T [T]? MaverickNate 22:18, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

That is what it says on the cards (down to the style we prbably based that parser on) right?--MisterE13 22:19, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
That's just to explain what the Unown letter is for those who don't know MaverickNate 22:22, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
If anything, we should get the Unown text set up so that it would be. But until then, it's too repetitive. MaverickNate 22:26, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Sorry man.--MisterE13 22:27, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I'd love the Unown text. That'd be awesome. I think it'd only display if you had the font installed... and last I checked, the Unown font has no ? or !. TTEchidna 22:36, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
And I guess the way I had set up the Unown (TCG) page was bad too? I was seperating them by the names on the cards themselves (see the distinction between Rotom (TCG) and Wormadam (TCG)).--MisterE13 23:02, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I thought about it and asked some other opinions, and it seems that you are right. Sorry for reverting you MaverickNate 23:11, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

No prob! Also, thanks to whoever else weighed in :D.--MisterE13 23:15, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

delete tags on templates

You always always always delink templates BEFORE you put the delete tag on them. Your latest excursion put Pokémon Stadium (Japanese) in the pages to be deleted category, and now it won't leave because the servers are clashing. Moral of the story, delink before delete, which is what you should do now. MaverickNate 14:24, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Yo!

When you update a current (Gen IV) learnset to the new templates...

...make sure that you copy it over (correctly, may I add) to the subpage. There it will sit so that when Gen V pops up in a week we won't have to freak out and go on a mass copy spree. TTEchidna 08:27, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

MaverickNate 06:46, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Language Pages

It isn't the purpose of the language pages to separate by generation. It's supposed to be a sortable list of everything. And also, quit touching the moves in other languages page. All that is doing is edit conflicting me. MaverickNate 19:09, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Colo/XD trainers

There are a couple of flaws here. Articles like Pyrite Town and Pyrite Cave do not make it clear what games the trainers are available in, making it hard, if not impossible to determine which they are from. There's also the issue of massive incompleteness with the Mt. Battle and Realgem pages. I wasn't entirely comfortable, at one point, with going around and updating the trainer pages with BW trainers until we were sure most of those trainers were available to list (which didn't really happen until the English game was released) due to the amount of backtracking that would have had to be done. There's also the smaller issue of missing gender identity because some trainers are missing images, such as with Rider Ladin in Mt. Battle Area 1 and Supertrainer Libal in Battle Area 10.

I know it's tough getting trainers from these games. But your trainers articles are always going to be incomplete without the other pages being finished first. Because anyone in the future who does the helpful thing and adds them might not think to add them to the trainer pages, too. However, which articles featuring trainers do you know /are/ 100% complete, no trainers from either game missing? Staring from there would help get the process going, since then it wouldn't be going trainer class by trainer class, but page by page. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 13:53, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Now, I notice something...

You took Sky Forme Shaymin off of the learnlist for Energy Ball by level. You do remember there are certain moves that one form of Shaymin (as well as other Pokémon) can learn but other forms can't, especially by level up. I dunno if you're carrying out an administrative decision or what, but I gotta disagree. Even if something like Giratina isn't doubled up on since both forms have the same learnset, Shaymin, Wormadam, and any others who have different learnsets depending on their forme (even if the same move, like Energy Ball, is learned at the same level in both formes' learnsets) really need to note both of them, since both can. TTEchidna 06:50, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Surely you know me well enough that that wouldn't have been my first choice but the others feel that when both Formes learn it we should only put it once without specifying either Forme (not that the single Shaymin box didn't include the words "Land Forme". So yeah administrative decision.--MisterE13 15:59, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Spritebox templates

I don't mind you editing them to update them, but please use this list to check that all the onces you're going to be calling are actually there. They don't need to be completely green, as sprites like Arceus types and Unown letters aren't called by the template, but there are only 210 crystal back sprites and 47 shiny crystal backsprites, so those ones shouldn't be called yet. If we call images that don't exist, it can take a long time for Bulbapedia to recognise that they exist after they've been uploaded or redirected on the Archives. Inquiry

Is there any chance Satoshi101's block can be extended? He was only blocked for edit warring, but yet he also violated the Code of Conduct blatantly, such as this edit [1] not only telling me "Shut up" but threatening to have me blocked for no unexplained reason. You may respond by saying he was already punished, but that was only stated to be for edit warring. His language and threats went way beyond how I was being harassed by Pokegeek and Satoshi101. Besides, my block was way too long. A cooldown block is only two hours while mine was three days. Explain that please.--SandmanDP 01:58, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Code of Conduct was also broken in your case. You were acting in a non-nice way (and that's putting it mildly). You both got a nice chunk of time to cool down because you two weren't just edit warring. No further time will be added unless we deem it necessary, and certainly you asking for that won't help either, considering your latest history. Masatoshitalk 02:11, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
What exactly did I do wrong? Did you expect me to act all nice when I was vigorously attacked not only by those ywo but by you as well for no reason? What "recent history" would make my claims invalid and not worth bothering with? I never used the kind of language Satoshi101 did. The fact that all of your words have been put mildly is passive-aggressive and very unproffessional. Stay out of this Masatoshi. You still have not proven any of my wrongdoing.--SandmanDP 02:21, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
What exactly did you do wrong? Act bossy, playing victim, not complying with the Code of Conduct, not complying to the consensus, calling people hypocrites, not letting it go (this whole issue). If I were you, I'd stop trying to pick up a fight and actually get onto contributing instead of ensuing a talkpage war. Passive-aggresive? Very well, if you want it so, then think of it as you like. And I'm sorry, but I won't stay out, you're turning this into a massive flamefest. And even if I gave you logic proof, which has been handed to you (not by me, mind you) and you chose to ignore it, you would do it until everyone agrees with your opinion. That's not very professional coming from a Bulbapedia Editor, now is it? Masatoshitalk 02:34, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Where are your sources? You keep making these claims without any evidence and CONTINUING to threaten me. This is a new issue that arose from a previous issue. I'm not playing victim, I am the victim. I never made any threats, used bad/vulgar language or used friends to gang up on my opposition. I have every right to cast my vote. I have every right to express concern. You say that "not letting it go" is a reason to block me again, yet if I hadn't been blocked in the first place, I would've been able to talk about it with someone. Besides, you allowed Satoshi101 to blow the issue up--SandmanDP 02:49, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Hey there Sandman, I just want to let you know that I come with peaceful intentions, and I'm here to help. But I'm going to ask that you calm down a bit, and don't take anything I say as snarky, or offensive, as I mean no offense. First, I'd like to start out by saying that MisterE13 doesn't have the ability to block people, or extend blocks, so coming to him was a mistake on your part. Masatoshi, however, does have that ability, and he was trying to help you. However, you snapped back at him, which is basically got you into this mess in the first place. At the start of things, no one is meaning to attack you, or hurt your feelings, but you take it that way and snap at them. Feeling offended, people will often snap back, and a fight arises. This is essentially what happened between you and Satoshi101, and I'm willing to show my evidence. Here, Poke.geek was trying to create a consensus poll like the one we had on Sabrina's Haunter. You then reverted him, and continued to argue with Satoshi, when Poke.geek was trying to settle the argument in a civil manner. Some of the messages you left on that talk were not compliant with the Code of conduct. "It's impossible to protect an article "permanetly", as such a word does not exist." "The reason you didn't get a response is because everyone is sick of you and the way you think you can do whatever you want." The first sentence is unnecessary and quite rude, and the second sentence is a blatant attack. It is not your place to say that "everyone is sick" of someone. You continued to edit war, claiming administrators had repealed the decision when in fact, there hadn't been a final decision. Kenji-girl and myself were not against moving the page in general, we were simply against moving it to his full name (at first). You were the only one who was wholeheartedly against moving the page, and therefore you were the one forcing your opinion on others. Not the other way around. No, Satoshi shouldn't have moved the page. But once again, it was not your place to decide it shouldn't be moved at all.
Continuing on with the sources, the arguing then moved onto your talk page. Poke.geek was correct that you shouldn't have removed his comment. Your response was once again hostile, and uncalled for. The message you are referring to that Poke.geek allegedly removed was on the Sabrina's Haunter talk page if I am correct. He was in the right to remove it as The dark lord trombonator had closed the poll as a final consensus had been reached. The page will never be moved, and if the discussion comes up again, we can use the poll as evidence of the community's decision. In the end, the argument became nothing more than you and Satoshi arguing back and forth. I was the one that ultimately blocked both of you, because both of you were being disruptive, and uncivil. While the average cool-down block is only a few hours, it is ultimately the administrator's decision how long a block should be, and considering the hostility between the two of you, I felt a few hours wasn't long enough for both of you to calm down.
I really hope this cleared a few things up. Before you respond, take some time to think about what I've just told you, and come up with a calm, understanding response. Even if you disagree with it, at least understand where we are coming from. Things will move a lot easier for you if you're calm. If someone truly is attacking you, remain calm, and they'll be the ones to get in trouble, not you. The next time someone is bothering you personally, bring it to an active admin and let them decide what their punishment should be. Thank you for your time, and have a nice evening. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 03:44, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

I admit I should've phrased "everyone is sick of you" part to something more like "Ignoring the discussion doesn't give you the OK". But still, so far, I'm still being told that all the hostile comments belonged to me, whether on the talkpage or in edit summary comments when that just isn't true and I have every right to be offended by that. Brutal honesty is way different than being told to shut up, and taunting that I was going to be blocked. Satoshi101 clearly created a vendetta against me as established by his overacting on KG's page. I was only following administrative orders, and there is still no evidence whatsoever that I broke the Code of Conduct when Satoshi101 clearly did. My block shouldve at most been one day, not three--SandmanDP 04:01, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Blocks are given on your actions alone. It does not matter what Satoshi said or did. You are responsible for your own actions which, from the view of a neutral party to the discussion, were hostile. That is why you were blocked. Yes, you were on the recieving end of some hostile comments. That is why Satoshi was also blocked. What Satoshi did had no impact on the block that was given to you. What you did had no impact on the block that was given to Satoshi. You must take responsibility for your own actions. A fight doesn't work if only one user participates - there must be at least two parties responsible.
For future reference, Special:Emailuser should be unrestricted by a temporary block. (It's a separate checkbox on the block form which shouldn't be used for temporary blocks at all.) Use that to contact any Editorial Board member if you feel a block is unfair. They will review the block. Werdnae (talk) 04:21, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
But how is provoking a user not punished? Pokegeek is an admin, as explained, and not only did he threaten me by teaming up with Satoshi101 to harass me, but also encouraged Satoshi101 to taunt me and admitted to breaking the code of conduct on my talkpage during the scuffle. Where's the punishment for that?--SandmanDP 04:53, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
Firstly, Poke.geek is not a staff member of any kind. Secondly, while not following the best course of action, only one of thier comments could even be considered breaking the code of conduct. A single comment is not sufficient reason to block under normal circumstances. They did not encourage Satoshi to taunt you, they were not hasassing you, simply defending their own actions. Finally, I will repeat, provoking a user is punished and was punished in this case. If you find yourself on the recieving end of provocation, the best response is to log out. Walk away, give yourself time to calm down. Reacting with an inflamatory comment on your own is behaviour that is highly likely to lead to a block. Werdnae (talk) 05:14, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Except I was told only two of my comments were hostile, and the second one was completely appropriate. Pokegeek continued to remove my comments after claiming that I removed talkpage comments, telling me it was wrong. That's hypocrisy and rule breaking, thus I had every right to say Pokegeek was being a hypocrite--SandmanDP 05:34, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Poke.geek removed one of your comments, which was an addition to a poll which was closed a month earlier. It was a legitimate removal. None of your further comments were removed by Poke.geek. Also, it is up to the admins to determine the extent of rule breaking, not the users. Certainly not the users involved (even if one is an admin), as there will always be a bias. I am going to ask that you drop the issue. It is not your place to request blocks on users. Blocks can be given or not given at the discression of a staff member ranked administrator or higher. Not at the discression of any user. The block given to you was justified, that's the only part of the matter that concerns you. Werdnae (talk) 05:59, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
So you'd continue to allow bullying as long as the victim is subject to additional double standards?--SandmanDP 06:49, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
As a neutral party to what has happened so far, I see no bullying. Only two highly opinionated users both determined to have their opposing ways. You have had nothing worse done to you than you yourself have done to Satoshi. Someone disagreeing with you is not bullying. Someone defending their actions when you start an argument is not bullying. There are also no double standards. You got blocked for your edit war and subsequent argument with Satoshi. Satoshi recieved the same block. All other parties involved were doing their best to remain civil and perform damage control. There are two sides to every story, and you are only seeing your own. Battrio Infobox

I'm quite happy for you to add your proposed changes to the infobox from a while ago, though with the introduction of Battrio V, things have changed a bit. The only problems I forsee are with images that are side by side, as their size is reduced quite a bit. There is also a special Rotom puck that has three options instead of two, which complicates your proposed dual option layout. I was also planning to change how non-standard named puck images (typically special ones) are called in when there is no second image, and also add a puck base colour/spin colour in the infobox. Let me know what you think. ~~nuva-kal 14:32, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

I've been hesitant to re-upgrade it since there does seem to be a lot that has changed in the base infobox. Perhaps some extra conversation on how to best incorporate your suggestions would be in order.--MisterE13 23:42, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Comparison

I created galleries for Caitlin, Wallace, Eusine and Kurt because those characters had only one art other than their current ones. Before, their previous arts were left dropped somewhere in their pages, with no standard position. I believe that the reason of making a special box for the pictures is for comparison between generations (or games, in Wallace's case).

When I saw Pringles adding Sabrina's latest art to her gallery and Jo The Marten undoing his edit I knew someone would do the same for the other pages. But Sabrina is a different case. She already has many arts in her gallery. But how can you have Caitlin's BW art only in the Infobox, comparing her hair and outfit by scrolling up and down in the page, is this really the best way in your opinion? Return their arts, please.

Fully aware that this won't work, I still needed to try. Thank you for your time (if you read this). |) u |( e ® 20:08, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Mispelling Redirects

Is there a different way to do them, or should common mispellings not be Redirected at all? G50 07:39, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Unless the misspelling is extremely common, all the redirects really end up doing is encouraging misspellings in articles. It's also impossible to cover every possible extension of a given word. All in all, not something we encurage.--MisterE13 07:49, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I understand. G50 07:51, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Template:Numpkmn

I think that template is being ruined by this talk page. ~Enervation 22:55, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Template:GlitchEvobox

Hey, remember that time I asked you to make the GlitchEvobox, but Rsrdaman beat you to it? Well, since he hasn't edited since April and I noticed something else I want added to it again, I need your help. 3TrainerPoké needs to have Clefable listed, but that would be a stage 4a Pokémon, which is not coded in. Then we come to the even more advanced issue: p u needs to have Clefairy branched off from 3TrainerPoké, and that Clefairy can then evolve into Clefable. If you could update the template to allow this, that would be great. If you come up with a better way to set up the template which eliminates the need to add more code every time I want a new branch or stage added, that would work just as well (but also would be quite difficult and time-consuming I presume, so I suggest the former).

Also, the order is important, as it means that if you evolve 3TrainerPoké at level 128 or higher, it will first evolve into a Kangaskhan, then into a Clefairy immediately after (from the Kangaskhan) unless cancelled. It's due to the fact that they hadn't set up the code to allow for Pokémon that evolve into multiple different Pokémon by leveling up. --SnorlaxMonster 12:31, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Animated Gym Leader, Champion and Trainer Sprites

I would like to know if when will the Archive be open for editing and uploads.. I would like to upload all the Gym Leader, Champion and Trainer Sprites in Animated PNG images... I hope it will open soon.... --GASPERshut... 13:01, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Pokéstar Studios Trainer classes

Okay here is some suggestions for that Trainer classes page. Both genders will use the same Pokémon, therefore I would suggest that you just list them together. Also what I would do is instead of listing them under the heading "Pokémon Black 2/White 2", list them under a heading for just the movies. This should probably only be used for the main characters. To avoid confusion about what games they are in, I think it would be a good idea to put a note in the first sentence stating that they are from Pokémon Black 2/White 2. Also for the custom Pokémon used by some opponents, I would use this sprite   (000MS.png) since that is the one used in the games. Lady Ariel (talk) 20:15, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the tips, I took some of them while trying to follow my original vision. We'll have to see what everybody else thinks though.--MisterE13 05:29, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Battrio infobox... again

I've been tweaking the infobox to accomodate everything now that Battrio is finished. Everything works apart from the stat expressions for pre-Battrio V pucks, as I wanted to get rid of the graphics we currently use. I'm not sue if there is just too much in the switch, or if there is something I'm missing. If push comes to shove, I could do it the long way and define everything with a set value in another switch, but the damn thing's doing my head in at the moment! Thanks ~~nuva-kal 15:29, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Did you get a chance to look at this? Just thought I'd revisit this as I have moved back onto Battrio again for a bit. ~~nuva-kal 16:26, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
No, I haven't really had the chance to review everything I had going on in that template especially with my already limited Battrio knowledge seeming to be quite out of date. I do know that Switches can stop working if there's too much in them so that's a very serious possiblity and a work-around of some sort would probably be needed.--MisterE13 05:00, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

help

I tried to edit the anime section on Weather trio and it erased the article HELP! Icestar649 (talk) 20:14, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

I'm not exactly sure how you managed that... but between myself and Dennou Zenshi it's all been fixed. All in all, no harm done and you shouldn't let it discourage you :).--MisterE13 01:23, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Gardevoir trivia

I noticed that you reverted my edit where I corrected the trivia about Gardevoir without any reason. Was that a mistake or do you think that we should totally ignore Mega Evolutions in base stat trivia? If it's the latter, I heavily disagree; they are no less notable than the alternate forms, who are counted in base stat trivia, including Zen Mode Darmanitan and Pirouette Meloetta who appear only in battle.--Den Zen 16:29, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

I can't remember ever intending to do that so it must have been an accident. Sorry about the confusion.--MisterE13 17:30, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Party template

Just a heads up, remember in the Party template header parts you need to leave the pokemon= parameter alone unless they are in a tag battle, otherwise you get what's happening on the Battle e pages where they'll have six Pokémon but only show 2 Pokéballs up the top. --Spriteit (talk) 23:04, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Actually, I was trying to reflect what it says here that they only use that many Pokémon out of their pools.--MisterE13 23:29, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
I did not know about that, my apologies. I think that might need its own note though somewhere. --Spriteit (talk) 04:34, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
I had only just learned it when reading the page to see how best to organise the templates. You're right, it probably should be better explained on the individual set pages and I'll try to figure out how to do that.--MisterE13 00:10, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Template:Sidegame

Could you please update Template:Sidegame? Most of what is needed is here. PartHunter (talk) 12:41, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. Were you able to get this sorted out already?--MisterE13 03:34, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
I plan to completely rebuild this template from scratch very soon. The current template is an extremely convoluted mess of parser functions and other code that makes modification extremely difficult. I should start working on it once we've started conversion of the spin-off availability table. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:01, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Travail/Work/Arduous labor

About that, why do you add "Arduous labor" as the translation, this is not what it literally means. MannedTooth (Talk) 02:10, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

That's a definition I wrote many years ago because travail is an English word which I feel has implications beyond simply "work", although that is its literal meaning as a French word.--MisterE13 03:29, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
Oh :P but even though it is an english word, why don't we use the french meaning since it's the french name? :o MannedTooth (Talk) 03:36, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
I think the English translators probably had the English word in mind when they named it.--MisterE13 03:47, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
As a french native, I would think the french meaning is more accurate as it describes what the player has to do in this area. But hey, if you think it should stay, it'll stay, it's not that big of a deal! :P Thank you MannedTooth (Talk) 04:09, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

Move footer colors

May I ask your reasoning for changing the Gust and Sand-Attack level-up tables' footers to be Normal-colored instead of their current type? Those tables do not exclusively deal with pre-type-change content, so unless I'm mistaken, I believe they should have the color of their current type. Am I wrong? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 23:53, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

That's the style used on all the other pages of moves that have changed types when the table includes information from a generation where the move had it's old type. Whether that's the best thing or not could be up for debate.--MisterE13 00:04, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
Ah, that explains it. I agree, it definitely doesn't seem optimal. If I wanted to try to get it changed by discussing it with a staff member who had jurisdiction over the matter, would that be you, or should I go to our Head of Games? or someone else? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 00:13, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
I asked around and we've decided that you were right about this. I've gone ahead and fixed them all.--MisterE13 06:39, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Duel quest template

Hi there! First of all, apologies if you're not the person to whom I should be going with this; I saw you were developing a lot of Duel-related templates in your userspace, so I figured you're the staff member most familiar with the game.

I saw on Ulex that someone had created a bunch of stage infoboxes by hand instead of automating them in a template, and I thought it was a pretty bad way of trying to do that. I made a template in my userspace based mostly on their infoboxes, and I was hoping you could give it a yea or nay. Usage examples are on the template's talk page. Thanks! Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 18:18, 5 February 2017 (UTC)

A couple of things to start off with: a template with that many parameters should use names for more of the variables and the Japanese name of the Quest and the opponent should be included somewhere in the template. Also, we are looking into different options for images but for now, there should probably be a space for them that defaults to a:File:None.png. I think abcboy has taken an interest in the template and might have some more recommendations for you. - unsigned comment from MisterE13 (talkcontribs)
OK! I'm not really sure how to make variables use names, nor what the format should be for adding Japanese names. And I tried using File:None but couldn't get it to work. If you or abcboy have any advice on how I should go about those things or if y'all even just want to fix them up yourselves, I'm happy to hear and/or observe! Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 06:54, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

Duel infobox

I see you are doing Pokemon Duel. Just so you remember, Poliwhirl's Ability is mistranslated; it causes the effect on the opponent rather than Poliwhirl. Also, should we document the currently ongoing event (the Flying Gym Cup)? Eridanus (talk) 10:17, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Elixir -> Elixer

I would like to point out that the way you're editing the Elixir links to Elixer in Generations I and II is unnecessary complicated. There is a much simpler way, as I've demonstrated here. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 04:57, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

It's an extremely minor difference but my way also changes the sprite's hovertext. Also they should all be finished by now.--MisterE13 05:01, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
That's what I was afraid of. I admit, I didn't consider the hovertext part, as I'm using a mobile device right now, but nevertheless, I've already started editing them in the way demonstrated above. I'm not sure now which way to go, but a part of me remains (maybe kinda childishly, I admit) defiant that my way is more correct. We'll see... --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 05:09, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Royalshow ten

Yesterday, I saw Royalshow ten (talkcontribs), who apparently hasn't been doing edits for about a decade, do multiple consecutive edits on a single page while editing each section on the page separately instead of editing the entire page at one. I notified them of this, but today, they did the same again, having not even replied to my message, either not acknowledging it or not noticing it at all. I left a further notification of the subject on their talk page, but given the ineffectiveness of my last note, I'm not confident if this will work either. Can you do something about this? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 04:34, 2 August 2018 (UTC)

They're still doing it. And still, zero acknowledgement on the talk page, even after I left another message. Makes me think they honestly don't know/remember how to use the talk page and aren't seeing our messages. While their edits are not harmful in any way, and I think person just simply doesn't know how to be more effective, it's still a bit frustrating that our messages don't seem to reach them. Should something be done? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:41, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
I passed this up through the appropriate channels. Thanks for letting us know.--MisterE13 03:37, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
You're welcome. Also, I saw how they were temporarily blocked recently. I think that was an appropriate move to make. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 07:19, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Let's Go templates

Now that the Let's Go games are officially out around the world, could the item and Pokémon templates be edited to make adding things about these games possible to Bulbapedia? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 06:42, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for adding them. However, I was just wondering: shouldn't the displayed letters be "LP" and "LE", instead of just "P" and "E"? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:11, 16 November 2018 (UTC)
How are the Let's Go party Pokémon template coming along? Is it ready to be used soon? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:29, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Berry sprites

The sprites for Nanab Berry and Razz Berry were recently updated to match the sprites used in the Let's Go games, and I did my best to make sure the pages regarding earlier games where the sprites were used had the original sprites instead of the new one. However, there were several cases where I couldn't change the sprite, due to it being tied into a template in a way that made such an edit impossible. You just fixed one of those cases with your edit or the Dream World item page, but some still need fixing. You can find those cases on the Berry sprite pages, in the list of pages linking to it. I hope you understood my point. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:29, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

I fixed some of them. Let me know if there's anything else that needs changing.--MisterE13 02:01, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Beta

The {{beta}} template hasn't been updated in a good while. Could you update it? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:04, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

What exactly needs changing?--MisterE13 19:32, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Would like to edit an empty page.

Hi there. I'm pretty new to Bulbapedia but would like to make an edit to this page: Colosseum Battle (Colosseum), but I do not have permission to do so. My plan for the page is to just compile a bullet-list of links to the relevant battle tournaments. Let me know if this is possible or if I'm talking to the wrong person. Trainerlist Template Update

Reaching out here because it seems you put the most work in building Template:Trainerlist/b. I created an updated version of it at User:TehPerson/Trainerlist/b. All it does is account for the various MS subtemplates (Template:MS/3, Template:MS/BDSP, etc...) so that we can customize which sprites to show based on the game.

The page isn't edit-locked, but this may look to be a non-minor change on a widely used template. So I'd like to run it by someone first.

It just seemed our BDSP listings haven't been updated solely due to no way to use the right sprites right now.

TehPerson (talk) 05:07, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi there, sorry it took me some time to get back to you about this. Since you mentioned it to me, I've been thinking pretty hard about a number of ways that {{Trainerlist/b}} could be improved on top of your suggestions about adding support for different generations of menu sprites. So far I have created a series of drafts:

Please let me know if you have any more comments.--MisterE13 20:28, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

About the #switch I split at User:MisterE13/Trainerlist/Spr/b, here is the explanation: If there is no equals sign after a value, it will try to search for the next value after it, until it finds a value with an equals sign after it. So:
{{#switch:{{{num|}}}|1|1st=first|2|2nd=second|...|#default=ERROR}}
will mean that if {{{num}}} is 1 or 1st, the output will be first. If it's 2 or 2nd, the output will be second, and so on. If it doesn't find the value, it will output the last value. Note #default= is not required, but may be if the output has an equals sign.
I split the switch statement so both will find a word based on the input. About displaying as a table, it always irked me how the template just looks like raw code on the template page.
About the draft list, I suggest to move it to the right side of this page. I won't do it because it's editing someone else's talk page comment, which my old account was once blocked for. If you are looking at it right now, the indentation colons don't work here. --Bfdifan2006rozmowa · sprawozdanie 21:25, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
I am familiar with that feature of switch functions but your changes made it so every use of the template was creating a new row of the table when some of them were supposed to stay on the same row as the Trainer name.----MisterE13 21:57, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
Now I get it. Also, that "new table row" could be placed inside an #ifeq: function, like this (note that the line break before {{!}}- is required):
{{#ifeq:{{{1|}}}|1|
{{!}}- style="background: white;"}}
Happy working on your templates! --Bfdifan2006! Or is he actually Keyacom? 22:46, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

List of Raid Boss changes (2020)

How's the work on making sure the page does not have too many templates? Well, I instead proposed a split to the page, so the new pages will be List of Raid Boss changes (January-June 2020) and List of Raid Boss changes (July-December 2020). The original page will be a simple description, stating that the page is actually two pages due to length, and then the links. No other people said anything about the split yet, so may I ask you for what do you think of the split? --Bfdifan2006 (T/C) 21:03, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for noticing the template problem on that page and suggesting the split. I was able to run an investigation into different ways to limit the include size of the templates used on the page and decide on a solution with the rest of the Staff to improve it without splitting the page.--MisterE13 19:38, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

Userspace templates on the mainspace

Saw you removed my new version of List of Contest opponents (Generation III). That's fair enough. You should probably add something about not wanting userspace templates on the mainspace onto the Bulbapedia:Templates page, no mention of this policy there.

How long does a discussion about a new template usually take? I have a few more I was planning to churn out. Lagnic (talk) 22:56, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing out that that policy could probably be made clearer. Right now, it's technically implied with the line: "While making a new template or a new revision of an existing template, it is often better to put it in a user subpage (make an article at User:<yourname>/<pagename>) until it is ready and approved". The only reason to create something in the userspace at all is to allow it to be a draft which, by definition, should not yet be placed in the mainspace. You can begin work on as many template designs in your userspace as you'd like and we will review them as soon as possible.--MisterE13 14:59, 12 March 2022 (UTC)

Edit warring

Unless I'm minsinterpreting the situation, PokemonMasterJamal3 seems to be edit warring with Franky7 over the wording of caught vs. obtained on the pages for Ash's Pokémon. A discussion was had on their talk pages, but it seems PMJ3 has acted without reaching a resolution. Landfish7 03:08, 27 March 2022 (UTC)

I'll revert it back if it's really considered edit warring. I only undid his edits once (unless you're counting the initial revert which I undid myself without prompting), although it was admittedly across multiple pages.
Regarding the debate, it seems that Franky7 believes that catching a Pokémon is not the same as obtaining one (apparently, there is a slight difference between the words in Italy), despite several pages for main characters' Pokémon using the words "acquired/obtained", as well as the episode category "Episodes in which a main character obtains a new Pokémon" existing on the wiki. I think the current wording for Ash's Unova Pokémon from Pignite onwards is misleading, since Oshawott was not actually "caught", but was given to Ash instead. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 03:41, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
I would recommend starting a discussion on the talk page of one of the relevant articles, and letting Franky7 know that you've started such a discussion. If a consensus can be reached that makes everyone happy, then we can go about making the relevant changes. Landfish7 03:46, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for being open to discussion, I think this kind of large-scale change should be discussed by the community and the staff before implementing. I'm personally a little wary about having to keep track of multiple numbering systems but that is a conversation we can all have on a public talk page.--MisterE13 04:06, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
I've made the talk page post here. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 04:12, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
