Poké Portal News
Poké Portal News (Japanese: ポケポータルニュース Poké Portal News) is a feature in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that expands on the available Tera Raid Battles in the Paldea region, making certain Pokémon more common for a limited time. It can be accessed via Mystery Gift or updated automatically by connecting to the internet in game. Certain species of Terastal Pokémon, which are usually very rare, are often made more common through Poké Portal News events. Crystals associated with a Poké Portal News event will also be surrounded by circular ring-shaped auras when up close, and their type icons on the map and mini-map will have a thicker, glowing border.
List of Tera Raid Battles
The following lists, in reverse chronological order, different Tera Raid Battle events. The event periods for the given dates typically last between 00:00 UTC on the initial date, to 23:59 UTC on the end date, unless otherwise stated.
2023
May 19, 00:00 to 02:00 UTC, 2023
The 23rd Tera Raid Battle event was the Great Tusk and Iron Treads Spotlight (Japanese: ピックアップ！イダイナキバ＆テツノワダチ Pickup! Idainakiba & Tetsunowadachi). Great Tusk and Iron Treads with random Tera Types were intended to appear more frequently in 5★ Tera Raid Battles from May 19 to May 21, 2023, with Great Tusk being found in Pokémon Scarlet, and Iron Treads being found in Pokémon Violet respectively,[1] however the event was cancelled, only running for a brief period on May 19, 2023, between 00:00 and 02:00 UTC.
In addition to 2 randomized raids, 2 daily raids were guaranteed to have fixed Tera Type. Players with Scarlet had access to a 5★ Great Tusk den with a Steel Tera Type, and players with Violet had access to a 5★ Iron Treads den with a Ground Tera Type.
This event included two notable glitches during its initial introduction at May 19, 2023:
- The item rewards attempted to grant and display TM Materials for Great Tusk and Iron Treads, despite both species not having associated TM Material items. This caused the item rewards screen for some players to display "None" as one of the item rewards, followed by the game crashing.[2][3]
- All Iron Treads raids with random Tera types were erroneously coded never to appear as Shiny,[4] despite both versions of Great Tusk, and the Iron Treads with the forced Ground Tera type being able to appear as Shiny at the standard 1:4103.05 odds.
At approximately 02:00 UTC on May 19, 2023,[5] all event raids were removed from the server, (including the 7★ Chesnaught the Unrivaled event), replaced with completely blank event data for any players that connected during this time. The official Japanese twitter account issued an apology,[6] but the event was eventually announced as being cancelled entirely.[7] This is the first instance of a Poké Portal News event being removed from the server entirely to address a glitch.
Additionally, an announcement for a 7★ Delphox event running from May 26, 2023 00:00 UTC to May 28, 2023 23:59 UTC briefly appeared in the Pokémon HOME calendar on May 21, but was removed almost immediately, likely due to the cancellation of the prior event causing scheduling conflicts.

The Great Tusks appearing during this event had either random or Steel as their Tera Type.

Additionally, the damage modifiers for their shields were changed to the following:
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do not match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 40% damage.
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 80% damage.
This event occurred at the same time as the second Chesnaught the Unrivaled 7★ raid event period, which was intended to run between May 19 to 21, 2023. Both events were accessible during 00:00 to 02:00 UTC on May 19, 2023, but were cancelled due to the aforementioned glitches, causing no raid event to occur between May 19, 02:00 UTC and May 21 23:59 UTC.
May 12 to 14 & May 19, 00:00 to 02:00 UTC, 2023
The 22nd Tera Raid Battle event was Chesnaught with the Mightiest Mark, granting the title Chesnaught the Unrivaled (Japanese: 最強のブリガロン The Strongest Brigarron), which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals during two time periods: from May 12 to 14, 2023, and was intended to run again from May 19 to 21, 2023, however the event was cancelled, only running for a brief period on May 19, 2023, between 00:00 and 02:00 UTC. Chesnaught cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Chesnaught appearing during this event had Rock as its Tera Type. This Chesnaught can only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle can be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards. If players captured Chesnaught during the May 12 to 14, 2023 period, they were ineligible to capture a second during the May 19, 00:00 to 02:00 UTC, 2023 period.[8]

The Chesnaught always had a Impish Nature, and all six IVs set to 31. During battle, it also had access to the moves Iron Defense, Bulk Up, and Curse, although these moves were not present after being caught.
Additionally, the damage modifiers for its shield were changed to the following:
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do not match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 30% damage.
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 70% damage.
Item rewards included guaranteed 6 Exp. Candy L, and 4 Exp. Candy XL, 1 Ability Patch, 5 Iron, 20 (30 if host) Rock Tera Shards, and 1 TM150 (Stone Edge), with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
The first event period for Chesnaught occurred at the same time as the repeat Walking Wake and Iron Leaves Spotlight 5★ raid event, which ran between May 1 and 14, 2023. Both events were accessible during the May 12 to 14, 2023 period.
The second event period for Chesnaught occurred at the same time as the Great Tusk and Iron Treads Spotlight 5★ raid event, which was intended to run between May 19 to 21, 2023. Both events were accessible during 00:00 to 02:00 UTC on May 19, 2023, but were cancelled to prevent a glitch with the item rewards from the Great Tusk and Iron Treads raids, causing no raid event to occur between May 19, 02:00 UTC and May 21 23:59 UTC.
May 1 to 14, 2023
The 21st Tera Raid Battle event was a repeat of the February 27 to March 12, 2023 event, (as a direct response[9] to the glitch that occurred during the previous event, allowing players running Scarlet or Violet v1.1.0 to encounter and catch a Bad Egg instead of the correct species), featuring Walking Wake for Pokémon Scarlet players and Iron Leaves for Pokémon Violet players in 5★ Tera Raid Crystals from May 1 to 14, 2023.
Players could only catch one Walking Wake and one Iron Leaves per save file, (obtaining Walking Wake does not make the player ineligible to catch an Iron Leaves, and vice versa), and players who previously obtained Walking Wake or Iron Leaves during the prior February 27 to March 12 event were ineligible to catch another, although the Tera Raid Battles could be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards.[10]
In an attempt at resolving the aforementioned glitch, players were forced to update to Scarlet or Violet v1.3.0 before being able to access online features, (preventing players with an outdated game version from accessing the event), and event data is now stored in the savefile in version specific blocks. Due to v1.3.0 detecting if a Bad Egg was present and resetting the capture flag(s) for any players with Bad Eggs, those who previously obtained Bad Egg were permitted to catch another during this repeat event, however the Bad Egg itself was not removed from the affected player's storage.[11]
This repeat event overlapped with the second event period for Inteleon the Unrivaled from May 5 to 7, 2023, and also overlapped with the first event period for Chesnaught the Unrivaled from May 12 to 14, 2023. During the overlapping event periods, both Walking Wake/Iron Leaves 5★ raids and respective 7★ raids were accessible.
April 28 to 30 & May 5 to 7, 2023
The 20th Tera Raid Battle event was Inteleon with the Mightiest Mark, granting the title Inteleon the Unrivaled (Japanese: 最強のインテレオン The Strongest Intereon), which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals during two time periods: from April 28 to 30, 2023, then again from May 5 to 7, 2023. Inteleon cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Inteleon appearing during this event had Ice as its Tera Type. This Inteleon can only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle can be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards. If players captured Inteleon during the April 28 to 30, 2023 period, they will be ineligible to capture a second during May 5 to 7, 2023 period.[12]

The Inteleon always had a Quiet Nature, and all six IVs set to 31. During battle, it also had access to the moves Mist, and Snowscape, although these moves were not present after being caught.
Additionally, the damage modifiers for its shield were changed to the following:
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do not match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 30% damage.
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 70% damage.
Item rewards included guaranteed 6 Exp. Candy L, and 4 Exp. Candy XL, 1 Ability Patch, 5 Zinc, 20 (30 if host) Ice Tera Shards, and 1 TM143 (Blizzard), with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
The second event period for Inteleon occurred at the same time as the repeat Walking Wake and Iron Leaves Spotlight 5★ raid event, which ran between May 1 and 14, 2023. Both events were accessible during the May 5 to 7, 2023 period.
April 21 to 23, 2023

The 19th Tera Raid Battle event was a repeat of the March 24 to 26, 2023 Blissey Spotlight (Japanese: ハピナス！ハッピーウィークエンド！ Happinas! Happy weekend!). In this repeat event, Blissey with various Tera Types appeared more frequently in 5★ Tera Raid Battles from April 21 to 23, 2023.[13]
This was the first instance of a repeat event being announced separately from the original event, and it also occurred at the same time as the second Typhlosion the Unrivaled 7★ raid event period, which also ran between April 21 and 23. Both events were accessible during this period.
April 14 to 16 & April 21 to 23, 2023
The 18th Tera Raid Battle event was Johtonian Typhlosion with the Mightiest Mark, granting the title Typhlosion the Unrivaled (Japanese: 最強のバクフーン The Strongest Bakphoon), which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals during two time periods: from April 14 to 16, 2023, then again from April 21 to 23, 2023. Typhlosion cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Typhlosion appearing during this event had Ghost as its Tera Type. This Typhlosion can only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle can be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards. If players captured Typhlosion during the April 14 to 16, 2023 period, they will be ineligible to capture a second during April 21 to 23, 2023 period.[14]

The second event period for Typhlosion occurred at the same time as the repeat Blissey Spotlight 5★ raid event, which also ran between April 21 and 23. Both events were accessible during this period.
April 7 to 9, 2023
The 17th Tera Raid Battle event was the Ditto Spotlight (Japanese: 「さいこう」な メタモンが とびだしてきた！ A "best" Metamon popped out!). Ditto with various Tera Types appeared more frequently in 5★ Tera Raid Battles from April 7 to 9, 2023.[15]
Notably, as this event covers exclusively 5★ difficulty raids, 97% of Ditto that appear during this event have 5 of their 6 possible IVs set to 31, giving them a rating of "Best" in the Stats Judge, with 1 random IV randomized to a value ranging from 0 and 31. In addition to the randomized Ditto, there are three customized encounter slots with guaranteed properties, likely to account for the prevalence of breeding Pokémon with specific IV values for use in competitive play:
- There is a 1% chance for encountered Ditto to be guaranteed to have an Attack IV of 0.
- There is a 1% chance for encountered Ditto to be guaranteed to have a Speed IV of 0.
- There is a 1% chance for encountered Ditto to be guaranteed to have have all 6 IVs set to 31.
Item rewards included a chance to obtain certain items, in addition to typical rewards like Tera Shards, Exp. Candy, and Rare Candy, many rewards appear to be themed around training and breeding Pokémon, such as:
- 3% chance to obtain 1 Rare Candy
- 5% chance to obtain 1 of any Vitamin (excluding PP Max)
- 1% chance to obtain an Everstone or Destiny Knot
- 1% chance to obtain a Bottle Cap
- 2% chance to obtain an Ability Capsule
- 5% chance to obtain 1 of any of the Berries that lower the value of a Pokémon's EVs, (such as the Pomeg Berry which boosts Happiness but lowers HP EVs).
This event occurred at the same time as the second Samurott the Unrivaled 7★ raid event period, which also ran between April 7 and 9. Both events were accessible during this period.
March 31 to April 2 & April 7 to 9, 2023
The 16th Tera Raid Battle event was Unovan Samurott with the Mightiest Mark, granting the title Samurott the Unrivaled (Japanese: 最強のダイケンキ The Strongest Daikenki), which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals during two time periods: from March 31 to April 2, 2023, then again from April 7 to 9, 2023. Samurott cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Samurott appearing during this event had Bug as its Tera Type. This Samurott can only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle can be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards. If players captured Samurott during the March 31 to April 2, 2023 period, they will be ineligible to capture a second during the April 7 to 9, 2023 period.[16]

The Samurott always had a Lonely Nature, and all six IVs set to 31. During battle, it also had access to the moves Focus Energy, Swords Dance, and Bulldoze, although these moves were not present after being caught.
Additionally, it had a 35x HP modifier compared to the usual 30x, and the damage modifiers for its shield were changed to the following:
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do not match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 30% damage.
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 70% damage.
Item rewards included guaranteed 6 Exp. Candy L, and 4 Exp. Candy XL, 1 Ability Patch, 5 Protein, 20 (30 if host) Bug Tera Shards, and 1 TM088 (Swords Dance), with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
The second event period for Samurott occurred at the same time as the Ditto Spotlight 5★ raid event, which also ran between April 7 and 9. Both events were accessible during this period.
March 24 to 26, 2023
The 15th Tera Raid Battle event was the Blissey Spotlight (Japanese: ハピナス！ハッピーウィークエンド！ Happinas! Happy weekend!). Blissey with various Tera Types appeared more frequently in 5★ Tera Raid Battles from March 24 to 26, 2023.[17]
Item rewards included a chance to obtain certain items, focusing on Tera Shards, Exp. Candy, and Rare Candy.
Players had a 5/7 (~71.43%) chance to encounter a Blissey that rewarded 15 Tera Shards (3 sets of 5 Shards with 3 random types), as well as 5 Shards matching the Blissey's Tera Type, with a chance to obtain extra rewards such as additional Shards, Exp. Candy XL or L, or Rare Candy.
Players also had a 2/7 (~28.57%) chance to encounter a Blissey that rewarded 45 Tera Shards (9 sets of 5 Shards with 9 random types), in addition to 16 Tera Shards matching Blissey's Tera Type.
This event occurred at the same time as the second Decidueye the Unrivaled 7★ raid event period, which also ran between March 24 and 26. Both events were accessible during this period.
March 17 to 19 & 24 to 26, 2023
The 14th Tera Raid Battle event was Alolan Decidueye with the Mightiest Mark, granting the title Decidueye the Unrivaled (Japanese: 最強のジュナイパー The Strongest Junaiper), which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals during two time periods: from March 17 to 19, 2023, then again from March 24 to 26, 2023. Decidueye cannot normally be encountered in Paldea, and the Decidueye appearing during this event had Flying as its Tera Type. This Decidueye can only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle can be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards. If players captured Decidueye during the March 17 to 19, 2023 period, they will be ineligible to capture a second during the March 24 to 26, 2023 period.[18]

- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 70% damage.
Item rewards included guaranteed 6 Exp. Candy L, and 4 Exp. Candy XL, 1 Ability Patch, 3 Protein, 3 Calcium, 20 (30 if host) Flying Tera Shards, and 1 TM164 (Brave Bird), with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
The second event period for Decidueye occurred at the same time as the Blissey Spotlight 5★ raid event, which also ran between March 24 and 26. Both events were accessible during this period.
February 27 to March 12, 2023
Released after the 2023 Pokémon Presents, the 13th Tera Raid Battle event featured the newly announced Paradox Pokémon, Walking Wake for Pokémon Scarlet players and Iron Leaves for Pokémon Violet players in 5★ Tera Raid Crystals from February 27 to March 12, 2023 at 14:59 UTC. Players could only catch one Walking Wake and one Iron Leaves per save file, (obtaining Walking Wake does not make the player ineligible to catch an Iron Leaves, and vice versa), although the Tera Raid Battles could be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards.[19]
Item rewards included guaranteed 1 Exp. Candy L, 1 Exp. Candy XL, 3 Health Feather, and 2 (4 if host) Water (from Walking Wake) or Psychic (from Iron Leaves) Tera Shards, with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
Connecting online and updating the Poké Portal News event data while on v1.1.0 of Scarlet or Violet resulted in a glitch. Due to the lack of species data existing in v1.1.0, the Walking Wake/Iron Leaves raids would appear as a Bad Egg instead. If caught, these Bad Eggs cannot be hatched, released, or traded, and catching the Bad Egg also erroneously set the flag for having caught Walking Wake or Iron Leaves, causing the player to be unable to attempt to catch another, even if they updated to v1.2.0 and attempted to join a non-glitched instance of the event raids. Updating the game to v1.2.0 did not result in the Bad Egg becoming the correct species, nor did it reset the aforementioned flag(s).[20]
This glitch was partially resolved with v1.3.0, which reset the capture flag(s) if you had obtained a Bad Egg, allowing players who obtained a Bad Egg previously to catch Walking Wake and/or Iron Leaves during the May 1 to 14, 2023 repeat event, however the Bad Egg itself was not removed from the affected player's storage.

Released in celebration of Pokémon Day, the 12th Tera Raid Battle event was Pikachu with the Mightiest Mark, granting the title Pikachu the Unrivaled (Japanese: 最強のピカチュウ The Strongest Pikachu), which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals from February 24 until 27, 2023 at 14:59 UTC. The Pikachu appearing during this event had Water as its Tera Type. This Pikachu could only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle could be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards.[21]

The Pikachu always had a Quiet Nature, and all six IVs set to 31. During battle, it also had access to the move Rain Dance, although that move was not present after being caught.
In addition to the Mightiest Mark, this Pikachu always generates with a Scale value between 240 and 255, giving it a 1/16 random chance to be eligible for the Jumbo Mark if it generates with a Scale of 255, (unlike most 7★ events which typically generate with a locked Scale value of 128).[22]
Potentially to offset its lower base stats compared to fully evolved species, this Pikachu had several special properties/behaviors compared to prior 7★ events:
- Its HP modifier was 50x, (compared to the usual 30x modifier for prior 7★ events)
- It had 252 EVs in HP, 6 in Attack, and 252 in Special Attack, (these EVs are not retained after being caught)
- It begins the battle by immediately raising its shield (which extended the full length of its HP bar), using Rain Dance, then Surf, before the player's first turn begins. Additionally, the damage modifiers for its shield were changed to the following[23]:
- Non-Terastallized Pokémon have all moves reduced to 1% damage.
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do not match the user's Tera Type are reduced to 70% damage.
- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are boosted to 120% damage.
Item rewards included guaranteed 6 Exp. Candy L, and 4 Exp. Candy XL, 1 Ability Patch, 5 Calcium, 20 (30 if host) Water Tera Shards, and 1 TM123 (Surf), with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
February 17 to 19, 2023
The 11th Tera Raid Battle event was the Garchomp and Sylveon Spotlight (Japanese: ピックアップ！ガブリアス＆ニンフィア Pickup! Gaburias and Nymphia). Garchomp and Sylveon with random Tera Types appeared more frequently in 4★ and 5★ Tera Raid Battles from February 17 to 19, 2023.[24] The event is intended to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Sylveon's reveal, February 12, 2013.
In addition to 8 randomized raids, 2 daily raids were guaranteed to be 5★ with a fixed Tera Type. Players had access to a 5★ Garchomp den with a Ground Tera Type and 5★ Sylveon den with a Fairy Tera Type.
February 13 to 14, 2023
Released in celebration of Valentine's Day, the 10th Tera Raid Battle event was the Tandemaus Spotlight (Japanese: ハッピーバレンタイン！ Happy Valentine's Day!). Tandemaus with various Tera Types appeared more frequently in 1-5★ Tera Raid Battles from February 13 to 14, 2023.[25]
Item rewards included a chance to obtain "sweet rewards", such as Apples, Kiwis, Bananas, Strawberries, Pineapple, Butter, Whipped Cream, Jam, Marmalade, Peanut Butter, Yogurt, and Cream Cheese.
Tandemaus found in 3★, 4★, and 5★ raids had the chance to have their Hidden Ability of Own Tempo.
In addition 4 randomized event raids, 1 daily raid was guaranteed to be 5★ with a fixed Tera Type. Specifically, a 5★ Tandemaus den with a Fairy Tera Type.
February 3 to 5, 2023
The 9th Tera Raid Battle event was the Armarouge and Ceruledge Spotlight (Japanese: ピックアップ！グレンアルマ＆ソウブレイズ Pickup! Gurenarma & Soublades). Armarouge and Ceruledge with random Tera Types appeared more frequently in 4★ and 5★ Tera Raid Battles from February 3 to 5, 2023, with Armarouge being found in Pokémon Scarlet, and Ceruledge being found in Pokémon Violet respectively.[26]
This was scheduled to occur between the two Greninja the Unrivaled 7★ raid event periods, with Greninja raids resuming starting February 10 and ending February 12, 2023.
January 27 to 29 & February 10 to 12, 2023
The 8th Tera Raid Battle event was initially only revealed as a "mystery Pokémon" appearing at 7★ black Tera Raids, with Poison as its Tera Type.[27]
It was later revealed[28] to be Greninja with the Mightest Mark, granting the title Greninja the Unrivaled (Japanese: 最強のゲッコウガ The Strongest Gekkouga), which appeared at 7★ black Tera Raid crystals during two time periods: from January 27 to 29, 2023, then again from February 10 to 12, 2023. This Greninja could only be caught once per save file, although the Tera Raid Battle could be attended repeatedly for additional item rewards. If players captured this Greninja during the January 27 to 29, 2023 period, they were ineligible to capture a second during the February 10 to 12, 2023 period.

- Terastallized Pokémon using moves that do match the user's Tera Type are boosted to 70% damage.
Item rewards included guaranteed 6 Exp. Candy L, and 4 Exp. Candy XL, 1 Ability Patch, 5 Carbos, 10 (15 if host) Poison Tera Shards, and 1 TM091 (Toxic Spikes), with a chance for additional miscellaneous rewards.
The event additionally contained special 4★ and 5★ raids for Bronzong and Lucario, which unlike Greninja had standard odds of appearing as Shiny.
In addition to the main Greninja raid, and 4 randomized event raids, 2 daily raids were guaranteed to be 5★ with a fixed Tera Type. Specifically, a 5★ Bronzong den with a Psychic Tera Type, and a 5★ Lucario den with a Steel Tera Type.
January 20 to 22, 2023
The 7th Tera Raid Battle event was the Drifblim and Mismagius Spotlight (Japanese: ピックアップ！フワライド＆ムウマージ Pickup! Fuwaride & Mumargi). Drifblim and Mismagius with random Tera Types appeared more frequently in 4★ and 5★ Tera Raid Battles from January 6 to 9, 2023, with Drifblim being found in Pokémon Scarlet, and Mismagius being found in Pokémon Violet respectively.[29]
In addition to 4 randomized raids, 1 daily raid was guaranteed to be 5★ with a fixed Tera Type. Scarlet players had access to a 5★ Drifblim den with a Dark Tera Type, while Violet players had access to a 5★ Mismagius den with a Ghost Tera Type.
January 13 to 15, 2023

This period was occupied by the second half of the two part Cinderace the Unrivaled event, which originally ran from December 30, 2022 to January 1, 2023, and then again during January 13 to 15, 2023.
January 6 to 9, 2023
The 6th Tera Raid Battle event was the Hydreigon and Dragapult Spotlight (Japanese: ピックアップ！サザンドラ＆ドラパルト Pickup! Sazandora and Dorapult). Hydreigon and Dragapult with random Tera Types appeared more frequently in 4★ and 5★ Tera Raid Battles from January 6 to 9, 2023, with Hydreigon being found in Pokémon Scarlet, and Dragapult being found in Pokémon Violet respectively.[30]
In addition to 4 randomized raids, 1 daily raid was guaranteed to be 5★ with a fixed Tera Type. Scarlet players had access to a 5★ Hydreigon den with a Steel Tera Type, while Violet players had access to a 5★ Dragapult den with a Dragon Tera Type.
