Dewgong (Japanese: ジュゴン Jugon) is a Water/Ice-type Pokémon.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Emerald
It loves to snooze on bitterly cold ice. The sight of this Pokémon sleeping on a glacier was mistakenly thought to be a mermaid by a mariner long ago.
Pokémon FireRed
Its body is covered with a pure white fur. The colder the weather, the more active it becomes.
Pokémon LeafGreen
It stores thermal energy in the body. It swims at a steady eight knots even in intensely cold waters.

Name origin

Dewgong's name is a corruption of dugong, which is a relative of the manatee, although it appears to have more in common with a sea lion than a sea cow. Jugon is also a corruption of dugong. The dew could also be intended to refer to the water found in mist.

Dewgong is based on a seal, sea lion, or manatee.

"Manaty" was the original English name for Dewgong.
