Shouldn't there be something on this page about the Game Corner coins in the video games? At least a disambiguation page?--Ozzie 11:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Dropped coins

In the Generation I games (and I think FireRed and LeafGreen as well), couldn't you find coins on the floor of the casino as well? I remember finding anywhere from 1 to 100 coins at a time just by checking the floor in front of me. Diachronos 17:27, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Move

There are currently 5 different pages linked in the hatnotes of this page, and several of them seem just as important as the Game Corner coins. Additionally, this page currently covers Magikarp Jump coins which presumably have no relation to these coins, so would result in 7 pages all conceivably referred to by "Coin".

I think the most sensible action is to move this page to "Coin (Game Corner)", then make Coin into a disambiguation page. --SnorlaxMonster 15:30, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

I agree. So to start drafting the disambig page, we'd have these:
There are some other uses that we could consider for the disambig as well:
  • The currency Poké in the Mystery Dungeon series. This is consistently represented as a coin in both menus and as a physical object. In games after Red and Blue Rescue Team, it is not called "Poké", instead pasting the coin icon directly into text boxes - meaning many players would not know the currency's actual name.
  • The currency "Coins" in Pokémon Rumble Rush. This does not seem to have its own page yet, and the Rumble Rush page does not have a section specifically about coins.
  • The held item Amulet Coin.
What do we think? --Boblers (talk) 00:30, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
I think the Explorers games do call it Poké, but it's just in a text box the first time you pick up Poké in a dungeon, so it's reasonable that players might not know the actual name. Since the Poké logo always has a prominent "P" symbol on it, though, I feel like people are more likely to search for it by searching P (which is apparently the name of a glitch Pokémon). So I'm not sure if it's really necessary on a Coin disambig.
Amulet Coin, I'm not sure about, I can see an argument that it should be included (if someone forgot its name) and also an argument that it shouldn't (it's such a ubiquitous item in playthroughs that it seems unlikely anyone would forget its name). That second point could just be me overestimating the average user, though.
I didn't play much of Rumble Rush so I don't remember much about the Coins in it, but coins are a common currency in a lot of spin-offs - Magikarp Jump, Shuffle, Rumble Rush (and possibly others in the Rumble series), Masters EX (which has coins, prize coins, move candy coins, and roll candy coins), Pokemon Duel, Pokémon Pinball... Unite has Aeos Coins, PokePark 2 has something called Gleaming Coins... Oh, and there's also Gimmighoul Coins. I don't know if these are all relevant enough to be put on the disambig, or if we should have an article dedicated to coins as currency (Currency in the Pokémon world?). Either way, I think it's worth evaluating whether some, all, or none of these other types of coins should be included in a Coin disambig. Storm Aurora (talk) 01:38, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
Return to "Coin (Game Corner)" page.
