Release information

This card was one of the SM Black Star Promos included in the Trainer's Toolkit 2021, released August 6, 2021. In Japan, it was one of two possible S-P Promotional cards that began to be distributed alongside participation prizes from October 10, 2020 at Pokémon Card Gym venues across Japan. Eligible events included the Gym Battle and New Battle and prizes were handed out for as long as stocks lasted.[1] The Japanese print features the Pokémon Card Gym logo.

Trivia

This card was created in response to the Mismagius that was ultimately banned in the Standard format.[2][3] As such, it features the Sun & Moon Series layout despite its release during the Sword & Shield Series. The Japanese print retains the regulation mark of the banned card, which ensured its rotation at the end of the 2020-2021 season. Due to the belated release of the card outside Japan, it did not become legal until August 20, 2021 and was therefore only legal in the Standard format for 21 days before the new season began on September 10.

Origin

This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
