Ho-Oh ex (Japanese: ホウオウ ex Houou ex) is a Fire-type Basic Pokémon-ex card. It was first released as part of the EX Unseen Forces expansion.
This card was released in the English EX Unseen Forces expansion with artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita, originating from the Japanese Golden Sky, Silvery Ocean expansion. It was reprinted in POP Series 3 with different artwork by the same artist. In Japan, this print was available as an insert with issue 2 of CoroCoro Ichiban!, at the time called CoroCoro Special Edition: CoroCoro Ichiban!, released in July 2005. A Cosmos Holofoil version of the English print was available in the international versions of the 2007 Spring Collector's Tins, released in March 2007.
This card's Rainbow Burn attack is similar to an attack of the same name possessed by Neo Revelation's Ho-Oh. While this card's version has a lower base power, it gets a larger power boost for each different type of Energy attached to Ho-Oh; this version of the attack is actually stronger than the Neo Revelation version when Ho-Oh has three or more different types of basic Energy attached to it.
