===Physiology===
Lairon is a stocky, armored {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} with four short legs. Its body is dark gray, and its eyes are sky blue. Its back is covered with segments of iron armor, each with a high ridge and round dark holes on the sides. The sides of its lower jaw have several flat protrusions, and two teeth are visible in its mouth. There are two-pronged metal bands on its legs. The upper band is gray and the lower is silver.

The upper is gray, and the lower is iron-colored.
====Gender differences====
None.

===Special abilities===
Lairon smashes its steely body against others when battling over territory, and shows off its strength with the size of sparks it creates by ramming into rocks. Close inspection of Lairon has revealed scratches and dents left on the armor from its conflicts. It drinks nutritious mineral spring water and feeds on iron contained in rocks. However it has gotten into conflict with humans over these territories in the past. It builds its nest on {{DL|List of Pokémon by habitat|Mountain Pokémon|mountains}} where iron ore is buried, which results in it clashing with humans that are iron mining.
Lairon uses its {{m|Metal Claw|metal}} {{m|Iron Head|body}} {{m|Iron Tail|parts}} to attack. It can learn {{m|Dragon Rush}} by breeding.

===Behavior===
===Evolution===
Lairon feeds on iron contained in rocks and water, and drinks mineral spring water until it is bloated, as it has been said doing so tempers its steel body. Lairon makes its nests near such mineral springs, on mountains where iron ore is buried. Due to its nesting preferences, this may cause it to clash with humans attempting to mine the ore.
Lairon evolves from {{p|Aron}} and evolves into {{p|Aggron}}.

Lairon are also known to show off their strength when they bash into rocks, with the sparks being released seemingly showing their strength. When two Lairon meet each other, they may fight for territory by bashing into each other.
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to [[#Evolution data|Game data→Evolution data]].)

==Trivia==
==Trivia==
* Its weight is the same as that of {{p|Rhydon}}, another {{type|Rock}} in its second stage of evolution.
===Origin===
Lairon may be based on the ''{{wp|Pulgasari (creature)|Bulgasari}}'', a monster that eats iron in Korean legend. Its draconic appearance was most likely inspired by how it appears in {{wp|Pulgasari|the film adaptation}} of the legend.

===Origin===
Lairon also has a similar body shape to the ''{{wp|Placerias}}'', a mammal-like {{wp|synapsid}} from the {{wp|Triassic}} period. As its [[Pokémon category]] suggests, its appearance may also be inspired by {{wp|plate armour}}s.
