It is inaccessible before defeating [[Clair]] in the [[Blackthorn Gym]], as it is blocked off by a man in front of the cave, and then it must be traversed to finally obtain the {{badge|Rising}}.

In {{v2|Crystal}}, {{2v2|HeartGold|SoulSilver}}, many strong {{pkmn|Trainer}}s can be found within the cavern. The Master of the Dragon User Clan is located here, and he will quiz the player on their attitude towards and treatment of their Pokémon. If the player gives compassionate answers, the player will be rewarded with a {{p|Dratini}} that knows {{m|ExtremeSpeed}} (though this requires speaking to Clair on the way to the cave exit, and then returning to speak with the Master once more).

{{ga|Silver}} can be found here, contemplating his training on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and [[Clair]] will visit to reward the player with the {{Badge|Rising}} she refused to award in the [[Blackthorn Gym|Gym]], as well as {{TM|24|DragonBreath}}{{sup/2|GSC}} or {{TM|59|Dragon Pulse}}{{sup/4|HGSS}}.

In {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}}, after the battle against Silver at [[Mt. Moon]], [[Lance]] and [[Clair]] will appear to challenge the player and Silver to a [[Tag Battle]].
