Roxanne's Nosepass (Japanese: ツツジのノズパス Tsutsuji's Nosepass) is Roxanne's main Pokémon in the anime and games. Its English voice actor is Darren Dunstan.
In the anime
Nosepass first appeared in The Winner By a Nosepass. Roxanne used it in a gym battle against Ash Ketchum.
As Ash's Pikachu had not much experience in using the move Iron Tail as it had only recently learned it, it was not able to use it effectively against Nosepass. With many powerful attacks like Zap Cannon and Rock Tomb, it proved to be a tough opponent for Pikachu.
However, eventually Pikachu managed to perfect the move Iron Tail, and it was able to defeat Nosepass with it, earning Ash the Stone Badge.
Moves used
- Hyper Beam was used in the Japanese version only. In the Dub it was replaced with Zap Cannon and Thunder Wave.
In the gamesTrivia
- In the original Japanese version, the attack that Nosepass used was named Hyper Beam. However, it is most likely that an error was made because the attack visibly looked like an electrical attack and Pikachu was able to absorb it just like it would do with other electrical moves. It was changed to Thunder Wave and Zap Cannon in the dub.
- Roxanne's Nosepass is, as of Pokémon Platinum, the highest leveled Pokémon used by the first Gym Leader of any region in their first battle with the player.
- In Pokémon Emerald, it knows Block at level 15, however, Nosepass only learn this move in Generation III at Level 16. The only way for this to happen is to breed Nosepass from two Pokémon that know the move.
