Dent and Iris are having a battle in the forest to train Kibago. Dent instructs Yanappu to take it easy on Kibago who is far weaker that it. However even an extremely gentle Bullet Seed proves too much for Kibago. They try again when Yanappu attacks with a small SolarBeam. Frustrated, Kibago unleashes a powerful Dragon Rage which causes a large crater in the ground and covers everyone in soot.
Meanwhile in an abandoned building, Team Rocket receives orders to travel to the Resort Desert and investigate a meteor that is located there.
Taking a break, Iris explains how she first got Kibago from an elderly woman from her hometown, while Kibago wanders off to pick apple-like fruit out of the nearby trees. Pikachu follows behind when Kibago decides to get some fruit that are just out of its reach and falls in some bushes below. The ground suddenly rises from underneath Kibago revealing that it is stuck between the horns of an angry Pendra who had been napping. Enraged, the Pendra charges about trying to shake the dragon Pokémon out of its horns while Pikachu runs back to where Ash and the others are. Kibago unleashes a Dragon Rage trying to free itself, only to further upset the Pendra.
The group arrive at the scene where Ash and Dent attempt to use Yanappu and Tsutarja to release Kibago only to realize they underestimated the Pendra as it defeats Tsutarja melts some of the foliage with its acid. Iris then decides to use one of her own Pokémon only to hesitate the thought for a second. She reconsiders after Ash tells her to hurry up and hurls the Poké Ball into the air releasing a curled up Pokémon. Ash then scans the Pokémon revealing that it's a Doryuzu, and Iris begs the stationary Doryuzu to help Kibago. After not receiving any kind of a response, she decides to help Kibago herself. Ash has Pikachu and Pokabu distract the Pendra while Iris swings on a vine over its head grabbing Kibago's leg and pulling it to safety. The Pendra then turns to Iris ready to attack when it accidentally knocks Doryuzu into a boulder. Agitated, Doryuzu burrows underground and comes up hitting Pendra in the face. Pendra fires acid at Doryuzu who simply slaps it away, Dent noting that being part Steel-type, Doryuzu isn't affected by Poison-type attacks. Doryuzu then uses Drill Liner to knock Pendra across the forest before curling up and returning to its remote state.
Ash later offers to help train Kibago to which Iris refuses. Instead Ash decides to train Pikachu by being his opponent himself.
