Flint's Infernape (Japanese: オーバのゴウカザル Ōba's Goukazaru) is the only known Pokémon owned by Template:E4 in the anime. It is also one of the Pokémon he uses in the games, being his main one in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
Template:E4 trained Infernape as a kid when it was a Chimchar. Before long, Flint and Chimchar were known as the strongest trainers in all of Sunnyshore, winning battle after battle on their way to the top. When Flint met Volkner, Chimchar battled his Pikachu and won but before long Chimchar was defeated by Volkner and his Pikachu. After that, Chimchar had many battles with Volkner's Pikachu until Flint left the city. Flint participated in various tournaments with Chimchar on his way to becoming a member of the Sinnoh Elite Four and it eventually evolved in to Monferno. Flint still remembers the time when Monferno was beaten by a Snorlax, but he kept on with his training and Monferno eventually evolved into Infernape.
Just as the other Pokémon belonging to the Elite Four are very powerful, Infernape is the same; it's moves are all powerful in comparison to Ash's, it's speed matches that of Ash's and it has no problem at all with type disadvantages, being able to match the power of a Water-type move with a Fire-type.
In Flint Sparks the Fire! it broke Ash free from the robotic security system at the Sunyshore Gym. It was later used it Flint and Ash's battle, where it easily defeated Buizel, despite being at a type disadvantage and Infernape where they were not evenly matched at all, it's fight with Pikachu lasted longer but it still eventually won.
It appeared again in DP180 where it rescued Kenny's Floatzel from Team Rocket, it later battled Jasmine's Steelix; like in it's battle with Ash's Pokemon, it won easily.
A † shows that the move was used recently, unless all moves fit this case or there are fewer than five known moves.
In the games
Infernape is Flint's highest-leveled Pokémon in Diamond and Pearl, and though it isn't in Platinum, it is still used in his team when battling the Elite Four.
Out of all the Elite Four's Pokemon it is the only one to make more than one physical appearance in the anime, unless one counts Lance's Pokemon who is considered champion in the anime.
