The giants share very similar names in English. Each has seven dots for eyes, arranged in a different pattern, similar to the [[braille]] that is connected to their legend. Unlike the [[legendary birds]] and [[Legendary beasts]], the giants do not have {{a|Pressure}} as their Ability, though the original three giants do share the Ability {{a|Clear Body}}. Like them, however, the legendary giants have a leader (and like the beasts, a creator) in {{p|Regigigas}}. Each member requires a puzzle to unlock them in the games they are in.


In the anime, they appeared as less important Pokémon than the other two trios, even being trained, in [[Poké Ball]]s, no less, by [[Pyramid King Brandon|Brandon]], whereas the legendary birds would create a worldwide disaster if they were all captured, and the [[legendary beasts]] are too powerful to be captured by conventional means.

The reason why this trio is seen as "easily attainable" by human beings is because they were thought to have been created by humans themselves. The [[Sealed Chamber]] and the various structures that house each of the golems appear to have been man-made. However, it is a complete mystery as to who constructed them. The only clues these people left are in the form of stone tablets, written in visual [[braille]], making them distinct from ruins which use {{p|Unown}} writing instead. This visual braille is also found in a cave in [[Mt. Ember]] and the [[Dotted Hole]] in [[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen]]. However, no braille is found in the [[Snowpoint Temple]] in [[Pokémon Diamond and Pearl]], despite its being home to Regigigas and holding importance to the Regi trio. Regice is found in the [[Island Cave]] on {{rt|105|Hoenn}}, and to encounter it, the player must wait two minutes in front of the sign{{sup/3|RuSa}}{{sup/6|ORAS}} or walk a counterclockwise lap around the walls of the cave{{sup/3|E}}. The Rock Peak Key for Regirock is obtained immediately after the player enters the [[Hall of Fame]]; after catching Regirock, the player will obtain either the Iron Key for Registeel{{sup/5|B2}} or the Iceberg Key for Regice{{sup/5|W2}}. The opposite version's key may be obtained by transferring it with [[Unova Link]] from a game that has it, allowing all three giants to be encountered in one game. Regigigas can be encountered in the lowest floor of [[Twist Mountain]] if the other three giants are all in the [[party]].

Each ruin's door is closed unless a certain requirement is met, hinted at in writing on the doors. These requirements are: having the first Pokémon in the [[party]] hold an [[Everstone]] for the [[Rock Peak Ruins (Galar)|Rock Peak Ruins]], where Regirock is encountered; having a {{p|Cryogonal}} be the [[walking Pokémon]] for the [[Iceberg Ruins (Galar)|Iceberg Ruins]], where Regice is encountered; whistling at the door for the [[Iron Ruins (Galar)|Iron Ruins]], where Registeel is encountered; and having Regirock, Regice, and Registeel be in the party for the [[Split-Decision Ruins]], where either Regieleki or Regidrago is encountered.
