He went up against Ash using his {{p|Torterra}}, while Ash used his {{AP|Pikachu}}, who made a folly by commanding a {{m|Thunderbolt}} on Maury's Torterra—likely not realizing it is {{2t|Grass|Ground}}—and then switched to {{m|Iron Tail}}.
