The Dragon's Den (Japanese: りゅうのあな Dragon's Den) is a location in Blackthorn City in the Johto region.

The Dragon's Den (Japanese: りゅうのあな Dragon's Hole) is a location in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal.
In the games
The Dragon's Den is inaccessible before defeating Clair in the Blackthorn Gym, as it is blocked off by a man in front of the cave. After defeating Clair, it must be traversed to obtain the Rising.

After defeating Blackthorn City's Gym, the player is granted access to the underground den. At the end of the Den's maze is the home and shrine of the Master of the Dragon User Clan, who will then give the player a quiz on the treatment of their Pokémon.
In Crystal, , several Trainers can be found in the cave. The Dragon Shrine (Japanese: りゅうのほこら Dragon Hokora) is located in the south end (blocked off by a whirlpool), where the Master will quiz the player on their attitude towards and treatment of their Pokémon. After the completes the quiz, they will be rewarded with a Dratini. If they got all the answers right the first time, the Dratini will know Extreme Speed.

There are only two kinds of wild Pokémon to be found in the water: Magikarp and Dratini. Dratini is pure Dragon-type and Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, which learns some Dragon-type moves.
Silver can be found here contemplating his training on Days of the weeks and Days of the weeks. Clair will visit to reward the player with the Rising Badge she refused to award in the Blackthorn Gym, as well as 24 or 59. This requires completing the quiz described above. In Gold and Silver, where the Dragon Shrine is closed and everything related to it is unavailable, Clair will instead give the Rising Badge to the player after they collect the Dragon Fang. If the Dragon Fang from Dragon's Den is not obtained, but the player has one anyways, usually from trading from another Trainer, Clair will call the player a cheater and refuse to give the badge.

Skilled trainers are in the Dragon's Den. Players should heal their Pokémon and bring Super or Hyper Potions and Paralyz Heals before entering.
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, after the player battles Silver at Mt. Moon, they can participate in a Multi Battle with him against Lance and Clair here. Additionally, in these games, if the player receives the Rising Badge from Clair and then leaves the Dragon's Den with Dig, Teleport, or an Escape Rope, then they must return to her Gym in order to collect the TM.

In Generation II, Silver is found here on some days, contemplating his training.

Master's quiz
In Crystal, , it is possible to obtain a Dratini with Extreme Speed, a move it cannot normally learn in Generation II and IV.

It is a prize for correctly answering the questions given by the Master in the Dragon Shrine. If any wrong answers are given, the player will still receive a Dratini but it will have Leer instead of ExtremeSpeed.

After completing the quiz, the player will then need to receive 24 or 59 from Clair. After this, returning to the Master will result in him giving the Dratini to the player.

Layout
Of note is that Crystal's redesign of the Dragon's Den added Headbutt trees to the back of the Dragon Shrine. Despite this, no Pokémon can be found hiding in them. In HeartGold and SoulSilver's redesign, the Headbutt trees are absent, much like in its original design from Gold and Silver.

Trivia
* Dragon's Den is the only location where the player obtains a Gym Badge that is not a Gym.
* In Crystal, if the player whites out due to poison damage while still inside the Dragon Shrine after receiving the Rising, they can return to the Blackthorn Gym to receive the reward TM from Clair. However, if the player then returns to Dragon's Den and stands on the tile directly in front of the Dragon Shrine's door, Clair will appear again and give the player another TM24.
