Trivia

  • Will-O-Wisp is the only status move capable of inflicting a burn.
  • Before Generation V, Ralts could learn Will-O-Wisp by breeding, but not by TM.
  • In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, and White, and Pokémon Battle Revolution, the animation shows the flames being purple, although the description says they are bluish white.
  • Vulpix is the only non Template:Type2 to learn Will-O-Wisp by level up.
    • It is also the only pure Fire-type Pokémon to learn it.
  • Even though Will-O-Wisp is a Status move, it's always shown as an offensive move in the anime never causing any burns at all, in one instance being shown to equal Flamethrower in terms of power.
  • Froslass and Golett's family are the only Ghost-type Pokémon that cannot learn Will-O-Wisp.
