Tail Whip (Japanese: しっぽをふる Tail Wag) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Tail Whip decreases the target's Defense stat by one stage.

Tail Whip will do nothing if the target's Defense stat has reached a stage of minus six or a value of one, and will fail if the target has a Substitute, Clear Body or Big Pecks ability, or is under the effect of Mist.

Tail Whip hits both opponents in a double battle. In a triple battle, Tail Whip will only hit opposing adjacent Pokémon.
