Regice (Japanese: レジアイス Regice) is a Legendary Ice-type Pokémon available in the third generation of Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Regice is an Ice-type Pokémon. Its body is composed of Antarctic ice, and resembles a crystal. Its face has an unusual pattern consisting of seven yellow dots that are in a "+" formation.

Gender differences

Regice is a genderless species.

Special abilities

Regice cloaks itself in air that is -328 degrees Fahrenheit. It can survive if submerged in molten lava. Due to its extremely frigid body, anyone who approaches it can freeze. It is capable of surviving even extremely hot temperatures. Regice has the unexplainable ability to wield Electrical attacks like Zap Cannon.

Behavior

Habitat

Regice resides in the Island Cave, which has to be unlocked to access it.

Regice in the anime

Regice made an appearance with Regirock and Registeel in the 8th Pokémon movie, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, as one of the three guardians of The Tree of Beginning.

Ash battles against and defeats Pyramid King Brandon's Regice in Pace - The Final Frontier.

In the manga

In Pokémon Special

Regice debuted near the end of the RSE saga, when Glacia was attempting to open the Island Cave. Together, Steven and Sapphire created a team of four Beldums and Sapphire's Relicanth and Wailord, thus opening up the chamber containing Regice. Regice used Superpower to stop Groudon and Kyogre from fighting. Afterwards, it and the other two Regis traveled to the mountains, where they were later caught by Brandon.

Brandon used Regice in his battle with Emerald. It beat Crys's Cubone, which Emerald had borrowed to use in the Battle Pyramid, but was subsequently defeated by Emerald's Sceptile's Iron Tail.

Trivia

  • In Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Regice was pronounced "REH-jee-ice", while in the Battle Frontier season of the anime, it was pronounced "REJ-ice".
  • Despite the fact that Regice will not melt even if immersed in magma, it still has a weakness to fire.

Origin

Regice is based on the golems of Hebrew legend. The legends cast them as servants of higher powers and are said to have writing on their heads. When the writing is removed, the creature would be weakened.

Name origin

This Pokémon's name is a combination of regius, which is Latin for royal, and ice.
