Route 116 (Japanese: 116ばんどうろ Route 116) is a route in western Hoenn, connecting Rustboro City and Rusturf Tunnel.
Route description
There are three large patches of grass on the route, containing wild Pokémon at low levels. This route is, also, the first area where Trainers will encounter wild Whismur. In addition, it is one of three places at which Trainers can catch wild Taillow, native to Hoenn.
To the east of this route, near the entrance of Rusturf Tunnel, is the Tunneler's Rest House, which isn't accessible until the player rescues Mr. Briney's Peeko from a Team MagmaR or Team AquaSE Grunt. Inside, are workers who were previously working on the construction of Rusturf Tunnel, but stopped due to the harm it brought to the wild Pokémon in it.
A relatively large portion of the route requires Cut to access. On the east side of the route, near the entrance to Rusturf Tunnel, there is a small cave, concealed by a small indent, where a secret base can be made.

Trivia
- School Kid Jerry notably owns a Ralts and later obtains a Banette. In the anime, Max is based on the School Kid Trainer class and befriends a Ralts and a Shuppet, the pre-evolved form of Banette.
- A Youngster on this route shares a name with the first Trainer encountered in the Johto-based games (except Silver).
