Trivia
Origin
Kilowattrel may be based on a frigate bird. Like frigate birds, Kilowattrel has a hooked beak, angular wings and forked tail. Its large wingspan and size might also reference the fact that frigate birds have the largest wing area to body ratio of any bird. The throat sac of Kilowattrel also resembles the gular sac found on male frigate birds.
Name origin
Kilowatt may derive from kilowatt and petrel. It may also derive from "frigate-petrel" - an alternative name used to refer to frigate birds.
