If a Pokémon is grounded, it can be affected by Ground-type attacks.
In addition to Ground-type attacks, a grounded Pokémon is affected by:
- the Ground-type move Spikes
- the Poison-type move Toxic Spikes
- the Fairy-type move Misty Terrain
- the Grass-type move Grassy Terrain
- the Electric-type move Electric Terrain
- the Ability Arena Trap
- the damaging turn of the Flying-type move Sky Drop
Being ungrounded gives the Pokémon an immunity to these
Every Pokémon is considered grounded unless it:
- is a Flying-type Pokémon.
- has the Ability Levitate.
- is holding an Air Balloon.
- is under the effect of the move Magnet Rise.
- is under the effect of the move Telekinesis.
An ungrounded Pokémon can become grounded if it:
- is holding the item Iron Ball.
- is under the effect of the move Gravity.
- is under the effect of the move Ingrain.
- has the Flying type and used the move Roost this turn.
- was hit by the move Smack Down and has not switched out.
