Re:special values for pet and sfx parameters

I'll just demonstrate what these parameters do when they're using their "special" values, if anyone's curious about it. (I'm using random/dummy data below.) In the third row, the pet parameter is set to "can't"; since the Pokémon can't be petted, the last two cells aren't going to have any data so it puts one cell over both of them with "N/A" in it. In the fourth row, the sfx parameter is removed; this implies there is no special effect anywhere on the Pokémon's body, so there won't be any data for the following cell, so it gets absorbed by the special effect cell.

pkmn can/'t eat? can/'t high five? can/'t pet? sp effect? sfx loc? favored spot disfavored spot
001  ?hifive ?like ?bites ?ds Bulbasaur ? N/A bites? dualscreen?
001   ?bites ?ds Bulbasaur can can can fiery ears feet belly N/A bites? dualscreen?
001   ?bites ?ds Bulbasaur can can can't fiery ears feet belly N/A bites? dualscreen?
001   ?bites ?ds Bulbasaur can can can no sfx ears feet belly N/A bites? dualscreen?
001   ?bites ?ds Bulbasaur can can cannot none none none none N/A bites? dualscreen?

It's no big deal if you forget about those. You can see in the last row that if you enter "none" or something, it'll work just fine. The main difference is simply that the joined cells let you recognize at a glance that those pieces of data are negative. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:51, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Victini

Tiddlywinks, you put Victini in the wrong generation, you need to put it into the Generation V section to get it correct. Also, I don't have one in my Pokémon X and I don't know whatever people can high-five a Victini? --Cinday123 (Talk) 07:28, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

'*sigh* Starters are supposed to be the first thing in any 'dex... >_< I'll fix it eventually, or someone else can. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:37, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Protection

Heh, sorry Tiddlywinks. An admin was completing the page when they were conflicted. The page has been protected for two days so the admin can finish it, if that's okay with you.--ForceFire 07:33, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

It's cool, I understand. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:37, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Knowing favored (and disfavored) spots

Some of the Pokemon currently have the like or dislike parameters marked as "N/A", even though they are marked as pettable. (Search for "!fav" or "!disfav".) I do not think that any Pokemon that is pettable would have no favored or disfavored spot. Unfortunately, I can't check most of those (unless someone wants to trade them to me?). So I want to give people some hints on how to be sure where a favored or disfavored spot is.

First off, you should listen carefully. A higher pitch than normal indicates you passed over a favored spot, and a lower pitch means you passed over a disfavored spot. Preferably, though, you won't try to identify a spot on that alone.

As for visuals, whereas favored and neutral spots will always either show a heart icon or a music note icon above the Pokemon's head, a disfavored spot will show neither and the Pokemon will react angrily. The difficulty, visually, comes in differentiating favored spots from neutral spots when the Pokemon's face is not very expressive. The key, then, is to exploit the ranges of enjoyment where neutral petting won't lower enjoyment and doesn't add affection, but favored petting will. That is, if your Pokemon has 16 points of enjoyment, petting it in a neutral spot will produce a music note (and will keep doing so, no matter how often you do it), while petting it in a favored spot will produce a single heart.

So you just have to get to 16 points of enjoyment. First, get your Pokemon to 0 points of enjoyment, which should be easy enough with a mixture of petting and hitting your Pokemon.* When you can open the switch screen and see no filled-in music notes for enjoyment, that means you have 0 points of enjoyment. (Be careful: every time you open the play mode, you gain 10 points of enjoyment, so if you saw a filled-in music note and you go back in to the play mode and just hit your Pokemon once, you've actually left it with a net gain of +5 enjoyment. To go negative, you'd have to hit it 3 times (or pet it perhaps).) Next, walk up to 50 steps (that is, until you've gained a point of enjoyment from walking; you can check the switch screen). Then open the play mode, hit your Pokemon once, exit the play mode, and re-enter the play mode. That's when you'll have 16 points of enjoyment, and when you can test for favored petting spots. If you leave your Pokemon alone for too long and exit out, you'll have to hit your Pokemon twice when you enter the play mode again to offset the new points of enjoyment you gained; but if you're worried about that, you can open the Poke Puff feeder or minigame selector and it shouldn't exit on you. (Also be careful of another sneaky addition: if a golden music note spontaneously appears above your Pokemon's head (I'm not sure what causes this), you've gained 5 points of enjoyment and need to offset it.)

Darmanitan and Meloetta forms

Darmanitan and Meloetta are the only Pokemon currently missing a form in the listing (Vivillon notwithstanding). I think their forms should be able to show up in Pokemon-Amie, but I can't be sure of it. Can someone check whether they do? If so, the lines below should be added into the page.

555Z  ?hifive ?like ?bites ?ds Darmanitan ? N/A bites? dualscreen?
648P  ?hifive ?like ?bites ?ds Meloetta ? N/A bites? dualscreen?

Hello Twiddlywinks, I don't know if you still need an answer, but the answer is no! They both revert to their normal forms after battle (was a little disappointed that I couldn't pet zen mode Darminitan). Also, they are both not dual screen and both eat in 4 bite. Hope that helps! --Wowy (talk) 04:40, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks! I should have figured about Meloetta, but I guess I didn't read the forms page closely enough before. Darmanitan I could have understood as well if I had looked at the page for its Ability. Since both of those forms are in-battle only, they aren't notable (I briefly thought they might be), but thanks for checking on it for me. Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:07, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Pachirisu

Tiddlywinks, you put some of Pachirisu's information wrong, it likes to be rubbed on cheeks so there's no paralyzing effects on a Pachirisu. --Cinday123 (Talk) 05:23, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

I don't have any problem with someone who can personally confirm data changing information on the page, but since I can't currently do that myself for Pachirisu, I'm going to leave that alone for now. Tiddlywinks (talk) 14:31, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

I can confirm Raichu likes being petted under its chin

Pikachu Bros. (talk) 02:07, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Also, it's on one screen and takes three bites at least. Pikachu Bros. (talk) 02:08, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Sorry about that.

Didn't realize there'd be an issue editing that section. Unowninator (talk) 03:41, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
