By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Russian names

Can you tell me where you found the Russian names you've added to May and Brendan? glikglak 15:31, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

Those are direct translations from English to Russian. Those are the way how these names are spelled in Russian. Plus, since the game and anime counterpart of the female player character from Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are named "May", the Russian spelling would be the same. - unsigned comment from Alex-Kai (talkcontribs)
The names and In other languages sections are for things officially used by Pokémon or Nintendo, rather than directly translating the words ourself, so I'm going to remove them. And when we split a main character from the anime off from the game character, we want to keep all the anime information on the anime character's page, including the names from the various dubs. If you do happen to find an official translation, put a link to it in the edit summary when you add it to its page so we can find it in the future. glikglak 12:52, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Well, that's okay. But honestly, Nintendo will never confirm it themsleves. And neither RSE or ORAS have an official Russian translation. And heck, I thought since "Brendan" and "May" are actual names, that have already been translated, officially for the Russian language, I thought to use those. I also looked up actor Brendan Fraser to make sure. But I gues, you are right. Here's what I am talking about: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A4%D1%80%D1%8D%D0%B9%D0%B7%D0%B5%D1%80,_%D0%91%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%B0%D0%BD https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D1%8D%D0%B9,_%D0%94%D0%B6%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%B8

The TCG is translated into Russian, which has characters from time to time. Pokemon.com and Nintendo.ru also sometime translate things. glikglak 14:56, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
