Also, words like settlement, village, metropolis are just different subsets of city/town. Cities and towns are collective terms that mean all of those other terms and more. Cities and towns are generic words that conver all circumstances because all the terms mean the same thing, with slightly different characteristics. Cities and towns fits as the name and will stay as such.
