Vincent made his main series debut in ''[[EP267|Love, Pokémon Style]]'', where he was known as "Jackson" in the English dub. He was revealed to be {{Ash}} and [[Macy]]'s opponent in Division H of preliminary round-robin {{pkmn|battle}} rounds of the [[Silver Conference]].

Jackson faced Macy in ''[[EP268|Tie One On!]]''. The three-on-three match proved to be a close one, with both competitors down to their last Pokémon. Jackson's showboating got the better of him, however, as he tripped over his cape while issuing orders to {{p|Poliwhirl}}. Macy's {{p|Quilava}} ultimately defeated Poliwhirl with {{m|Flamethrower}}, winning Macy the round.

Later, Ash ventured into the [[Pokémon Center]], where he came across Jackson talking with [[Professor Elm]] on the videophone. The pair greeted each other as Elm offered Jackson some encouragement for his upcoming match. Outside, Jackson's {{p|Meganium}} and {{p|Azumarill}} got into a heated fight with [[Ash's Bulbasaur]] and {{AP|Squirtle}} over an apple. Ash and Jackson rushed outside to separate their Pokémon, but {{jo|Harrison}}'s {{p|Miltank}} eased them with a soothing {{m|Heal Bell}}.

Jackson selected his final Pokémon, Meganium. After exchanging numerous attacks, the two {{type|Grass}} Pokémon were both left fatigued and ultimately fainted at the same time. As a result, the [[Battle judge|referee]] called the round a double knockout, and a draw overall between Ash and Jackson. However, due to the four-point total he attained from the Conference's three-way matches, Ash advanced to the next round, while Jackson was disqualified. He subsequently shook hands with Ash and wished him the best for the battles ahead.
