Spectral Thief (move): Difference between revisions

Spectral Thief does damage. If successful, it also steals the target's [[Statistic|stat]] boosts (if any) right before doing damage. Spectral Thief bypasses {{m|substitute}}s. Spectral Thief only copies positive stat stages (so, for example, if an opponent has used Shell Smash, Spectral Thief will copy the ATK/SPA/SPE boosts but not the DEF/SPD decreases). It also only copies net stat stages (so, in an opponent has used Howl to gain an ATK stat stage, but had that stage nullified by Growl, Spectral Thief will not copy any ATK stat changes).

Spectral Thief will steal all stat boosts; even if the sum of the user's existing stat boosts and the target's stat boosts exceeds +6 in a stat, the target's stage will become 0. If the user has the Ability {{a|Simple}}, then the stolen stat boosts will be doubled; if the user has the Ability {{a|Contrary}}, then the stat boosts will be inverted.
