In {{ga|Pokémon Trading Card Game}} and [[Pokémon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR!]], it's possible to use Pokémon Trainer to trade a Pokémon card with itself (by moving a Pokémon card from the hand to the deck, and then the same card back to the hand). In effect, this simply causes Pokémon Trader to discard itself and the deck to be shuffled, without otherwise changing the contents of the deck or the hand.
When Pokémon Trader moves a Pokémon card from the hand to the deck, the moved card is shown at the top of the list of cards in the deck.
