A long time ago, on a clifftop, a woman called Aila tries to convince Jan not to leave but Jan promises her that he will be the Legendary Pokémon Yveltal and asks her to wait for him before sending Jan (SS036) into the air before riding out on his Jan (SS036), leaving Aila behind. In the present day, Professor Sycamore is walking towards some ruins and stops to look at a picture of a Maiden Statue. At the ruins, Alexa and Alexa are documenting as a group of workers are doing some excavating when Professor Sycamore arrives on scene and they greet each other. Alexa asks Professor Sycamore if he is here to investigate the ruins with Professor Sycamore confirms, saying that it is the find of the century as they are the ruins that can confirm the truth of a Kalos legend but didn't expect it to be found at such a high altitude whilst Alexa is amazed that they hadn't been discovered before. Professor Sycamore asks about the location of the Maiden Statue and Alexa takes him along a passage to where it is, explaining that it was accidentally discovered by satellite image, a temple like structure overgrown by nature and because of the treacherous location, it took some time for a research team to arrive. Professor Sycamore asks Alexa on why she accompanied the research team who replied that through the discovery of various artifacts, they had known that an ancient civilization had lived here which had become the foundation of civilization in Kalos and wanted to report on the lives of people and Pokémon who were living at the time. Arriving at the location, Professor Sycamore spots the stone statue of Aila as described in the legend of Kalos. Alexa says that it was as if someone took a picture of her life and carved it into stone as Professor Sycamore brings up the historical records and tells Alexa that they have come to known this part of the legend as the Stone-Eyed Maiden. Looking at her hair and necklace, Professor Sycamore notes that the records show perfectly matches the statue, much to Alexa's surprise as Professor Sycamore says that for a long time, people have debated as to whether or not what was written had actually taken place or fabricated by someone during ancient times and now that they have the statue, they may get the answer. Alexa asks Professor Sycamore if that means the statue wasn't a figment of someone's imagination and didn't base it on the records which Professor Sycamore says can't be ruled out but Aila's expression doesn't make it an ordinary statue and that the Stone-Eyed Maiden actually existed and the one responsible for turning her to stone was the Destruction Pokémon Yveltal. Professor Sycamore tells Alexa that the symbol in the records resembling a Y is a reference to Yveltal and from the drawings they have of it, they look the same.
