::I want to help out on the wiki more often, truly... but not under ''this'' name. It's not that I don't like this name; the username I have in-mind just appeals to me more. I have very rudimentary knowledge of basic JavaScript (by virtue of knowing C), an adeptness in CSS and HTML, and extensive knowledge of the MediaWiki software platform; i.e., I would at least be a somewhat useful editor, and I feel I would only benefit from editing amongst the editors of Bulbapedia. The name I want is a simple, four character one made the same year you joined, bearing no edit history. I mostly would act as a janitor of sorts, making minor edits and watching Special:RecentChanges, but they would be contributions nonetheless – that's more than can be said for the current 'owner' of the username in question. If I can't edit under this name in particular, though, I just won't have the necessary drive to contribute anything, because I'm a picky nancy. (Sorry) | |||

I know Bulbapedia and Wikipedia are two different wiki sites with a different set of policies, but how is usurpation of a completely abandoned and unused username bad/wrong, especially in the case of a username with zero contributions? What policies in particular would usurpation break on Bulba? It's just four characters; does some anonymous internet user out there with seemingly no intentions of ever contributing to Bulba really have claim to four simple characters? | |||
