The first member of the Elite Four is [[Lorelei]], a master {{type|Ice}} Trainer.  Three of her five Pokémon are {{2t|Water|Ice}}-type elementals, so be wary of your type-matchups.  {{type|Grass}}s may seem like a good idea, but they'll only be useful against her {{p|Slowbro}}, a {{2t|Water|Psychic}}-type.  You're better off throwing a few {{m|thunderbolt}}s to clear through her team.  Her {{p|Jynx}} is an {{2t|Ice|Psychic}}-type, so hit it with a {{type|Fire}} move like {{m|Flamethrower}} to finish it off.

==== Battle 2: Bruno ====

The second member of the Elite Four is [[Bruno]], a master {{type|Fighting}} Trainer.  That being said, only three of his five Pokémon are actually Fighting-types.  A strong {{type|Water}} like {{p|Cloyster}} or {{p|Gyarados}} can {{m|Surf|flood}} the battlefield, eliminating his two {{p|Onix}} with little resistance.  Dispatch a strong {{type|Psychic}} like {{p|Kadabra}} to deal with the other three, though a high-powered {{t|Flying|bird}} like {{p|Zapdos}} can take them out with {{m|Drill Peck}} or {{m|Sky Attack}}.  If you need reinforcements, consider bringing a {{p|Golduck}} or {{p|Slowbro}} along, since their {{2t|Water|Psychic}}-type combination will be a strong point here.

==== Battle 3: Agatha ====

The third member of the Elite Four is [[Agatha]], a master {{type|Ghost}} Trainer.  The only type that can effectively combat her Ghosts is the Ghost-type, but psychic attacks can exploit the secondary Poison-type present throughout her team.  {{type|Ground}} moves like {{m|Earthquake}} can deal some heavy damage, but are totally ineffective against her {{p|Golbat}}.  Take out her two {{p|Gengar}} as soon as possible, or their {{m|Confuse Ray}} attacks will get annoying really quick.

==== Battle 4: Lance ====

The fourth and final member of the Elite Four is [[Lance]], a master {{type|Dragon}} Trainer, and leader of the Elite Four.  The {{type|Dragon}} is probably the strongest type in the game, since it resists {{t|Electric}}-, {{t|Grass}}-, {{t|Fire}}-, and {{type|Water}} moves, and is only weak to {{t|Dragon}}- and {{type|Ice}} attacks.  A formidable opposing team, though only three of the five are actually of the {{type|Dragon}}.  Take out his two {{p|Dragonair}} and {{p|Dragonite}} with an {{m|Ice Beam}} or {{m|Blizzard}}, and the bulk of his team is finished.  Due to their secondary {{type|Flying}}, his {{p|Gyarados}} and {{p|Aerodactyl}} are also vulnerable to {{t|Ice}} moves, though there are other options to defeat them.  Gyarados will take quadruple damage from {{t|electric}}ity, so one strong {{m|Thunderbolt}} will knock it out.  Aerodactyl is part-{{t|Rock}}, so a {{m|Surf|flooded}} battlefield is one of its worst nightmares.  Be wary of each of his dragons, because they each know the devastating {{m|Hyper Beam}} move.  {{p|Articuno}} and {{p|Zapdos}} are probably some of the best choices to use against Lance's dragons.

==== Champion battle ====

Your rival defeated the Elite Four before you even set foot in {{ka|Victory Road}}, and now he is the final opponent standing between you and the title of Indigo League Champion.  The first half of his team will always be {{p|Sandslash}}, {{p|Alakazam}}, and {{p|Exeggutor}}, so plan accordingly.  His second half is what varies, depending on which form his {{p|Eevee}} evolved into.  Your {{p|Zapdos}} is a terror to his Exeggutor and {{p|Cloyster}} (or {{p|Vaporeon}}), and a quick {{m|Drill Peck}} or searing {{m|Thunderbolt}} will send them reeling.  A strong {{type|Water}} can {{m|Surf|wash away}} his Sandslash and {{p|Ninetales}} (or {{p|Flareon}}).  Pokémon (like {{p|Charizard}} or {{p|Onix}}) that know {{type|Ground}} moves are best to use against his {{p|Jolteon}}.  The only real struggle you might have is when facing his Alakazam; it typically has low {{stat|defense}} power, so pound away with {{p|Pikachu}}'s {{m|Slam}} or another hard-hitter.  Once it neglects to {{m|recover}} its health, hit it fast and hard.
