Route 32 (North)
The Berry tree at the northern end of 32 holds a Berry.  Trainers on their way to Azalea Town may be interested in exploring the Ruins of Alph to the west, but without 03 and 04, only the first room is accessible.

Ruins of Alph
Since you can't surf to across the southern pond yet, the only cave you can reach is in the north.  Read the hint to the right of the carving for a clue: "".  When you complete the puzzle, the floor beneath you will give way, dropping you into the main underground chamber.  With the first puzzle complete, you can now find Unown forms A-K.  If you catch at least three different forms, one of the scientists investigating the ruins will be waiting for you near the exit.  He'll take you to the research building and upgrade your Pokédex so that it can record the various forms of the Unown.

32 is a lengthy, Trainer-heavy route that stretches south along the shorelineThe Ruins of Alph lie off to the northwest, but right now only the first of the four chambers is accessible.
Return here after obtaining HM03, because not only are you able to solve the three remaining puzzles (unlocking the rest of the Unown), but also some wild Pokémon around the areaThis is notably the only place to find Natu and Smeargle.

Route 32 (South)
Talk to the first guy you see and you'll get a Type-enhancing item, a held item that enhances Grass attacks, as a souvenir for defeating the Violet Gym.  The guy standing on the ledge will give you 05, but you can't reach him until you can Cut your way through the trees.  There's a Repel sitting in the tall grass by Picnicker Liz.  Near the center of the route the path opens to a small inlet, forcing Trainers to either follow the western shoreline, or take the pier over the water.  Whichever way you go, don't pass up the Poké Ball on the shore!

The two paths converge again, meeting up just north of the Poké Center.  Like 4 in Kanto, this route also has an opportunity to rest your team before tackling the nearby cave.  Before you can reach it, you are stopped by a shady man and offered a "tasy, nutritious SLOWPOKETAIL" for pdollar1,000,000.  An obvious scam, but Slowpoke tails for sale?!  Team Rocket must be getting desperate.  Check out the tree-lined path behind the Poké Center, and you'll find a hidden Poké Ball.  Talk to the fisherman inside the building, and he'll give you the Fishing; with this you can reel in some Magikarp and Tentacool.  Rest up, and when your team's ready, enter the Union Cave.

Return to the Poké Center on a Friday, and Freida, one of the Weekday Siblings, will be waiting behind the building. She will give you a Type-enhancing item, which enhances Poison attacks when held by a Pokémon.

Read the hint in the north chamber to identify the Pokémon and move the pieces into placeThe floor gives way, dropping you into the main underground chamber where the first eleven forms of Unown, A through K, have awakenedCatch at least three different forms, and one of the scientists investigating the ruins will take you to the research building and upgrade your Pokédex so it can record the various Unown forms.

Head west from the entrance to find an Battle item.  Battle the next two Trainers, and pick up the Poké Ball south of the FirebreatherGrab the Potion to the west, and continue south.  If you take the stairs down past the PokéManiac, you can find an Battle item and 39.  There is an Status ailment healing item just before the exit, and another Firebreather loitering around. <br><br> Stepping out of the cave puts you on 33.

Union Cave is a small, three-floor cave on the south end of the peninsulaSeawater wells up from underground, preventing access to the deepest parts of the cave for now.  The ground-level tunnel merely connects 32 and 33, but exploring the basement floors with Surf and Strength reveals two more exits that lead back to the Ruins of Alph. On the bottom floor, a wild Lapras appears once a week.

Return to Union Cave once you can surf, and have a better fishing rodYou'll be able to find Pokémon like Krabby, Staryu, Quagsire, and Corsola. <br> On the bottom floor, you'll also have the chance to catch a wild Lapras every Friday.

The ground-level tunnel is a fairly straightforward path.  Wind your way back and forth until you see the ladder on the southwest platform, which lets you reach an Battle item and 39 on the floor below.  Grab the Status ailment healing item at the south wall, and take the exit to 33.

B1F
Return with the HM moves Surf and Strength to finally explore the rest of the cave.
To reach the Ruins of Alph, climb the ladder on the southwest platform to B1F.  Surf north to reach a fork in the road; the northern path leads to Puzzle #3, while the southern path, blocked by a boulder, leads to Puzzle #4.
B2F
To reach the bottom floor, surf across the pool of water in the southwest to reach a ladder.  Swim across another pool on B1F, and take the next ladder to the north side of B2F.  There's an Ether in the northeast corner, and a Potion on the platform near Ace Trainer Nick.  A Lapras appears in the south pool every Friday.

Something's going on in Azalea, and the Rocket grunt hanging around near Slowpoke Well can't be up to anything good.  Stop by the Apricorn craftsman's house north of the Gym, and he'll rush off to save the Slowpoke being held captive in the well.
Azalea is a small, isolated town on the south end of the peninsula.  Situated between Union Cave to the east and Ilex Forest to the west, the town does not get many visitors.  The residents know that something's up when you tell them of shady people near the Slowpoke Well, and Kurt, the famous Apricorn craftsman, rushes off to help the oblivious Pokémon inside.

After the Team Rocket grunts leave, Kurt walks up and thanks you, and takes you back to his house.  As a token of thanks, he gives you a Lure Ball, a version of Poké Ball that he produces using different Apricorn varieties.  From this point on, you can bring him an Apricorn once a day, and he'll make you a custom Poké Ball.  There are seven varieties of Apricorn, each perfect for one of his specialty Poké Balls:

The Team Rocket grunts run off, and Kurt is mobile again.  He takes you back to his house, and gives you a Lure as thanks for saving the Slowpoke.  Kurt knows more about Apricorns than anyone, and from this point on you can bring him any Apricorn to have it transformed into a custom Poké Ball by the next day.  Apricorns come in seven different colors, each perfect for a specific type of Poké Ball.

Now let's go get that second badge!
With the Rockets gone, you are now free to challenge the Azalea Gym. Rest up at the Pokémon Center, and head inside.

Later...
Return to the Slowpoke Well after receiving 03 and 04 to reach the well's basement area.  Here, you'll find a guy that will give you a Held item. You can also pick up 18, as well.
