Spin tile
A spinner is a phrase used to describe a certain tile featured in Red and Blue, Yellow, Ruby and Sapphire, FireRed and LeafGreen, Diamond and Pearl, Platinum and HeartGold and SoulSilver. The official name for this tile, if there is one, is unknown. This tile, when stepped upon, will whisk the player in the direction of the arrows depicted on it. The player will continue to travel in that direction until they hit a wall, land on another spinner (which may send them in a different direction) or land on a Stopper, a tile only used for that purpose. The name 'spinner' comes from the fact that the player is spun around while traveling.

Spinners are generally associated with that of Team Rocket, and are first found in the Rocket Hideout, where they form a complex maze that the player must work out to continue to the other levels. Other places involving Team Rocket include the Rocket Warehouse in FireRed/LeafGreen, and the Viridian Gym, which is run by the Team Rocket Boss Giovanni.

Other places involving Team Rocket include the Rocket Warehouse and Viridian Gym. Viridian Gym also continues to use spinners in HeartGold and SoulSilver, despite Blue being the Gym Leader in Generation IV rather than Giovanni.

They also appear in Hoenn, in the Trick House and in the Mossdeep Gym (excluding Emerald), and in Sinnoh, inside the Fuego Ironworks. The Viridian City Gym in Kanto also continues to use spinners in HeartGold and SoulSilver, as it did when Giovanni was Gym Leader, despite Blue taking the Gym Leader's title in Generations II and IV.
In Hoenn, they appear in the Trick House and Mossdeep GymRS. In Sinnoh, they appear inside the Fuego Ironworks.

In Generation I, stopper tiles are used, and the arrows on the tiles move while the player is spinning. In Yellow, Pikachu spins with the player. In , the arrows no longer move while the player is spinning; there are no stoppers in Pokémon, Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald. In Diamond, there are no stopper tiles; instead, the player spins until colliding with a wall. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, stopper tiles return and spinners are colored based on the direction in which they send the player.

Trivia
Special tiles<br>
* In Yellow, when the player is spun on the tiles, the Pikachu spins with them.
* In Generation I, while the player is spinning, the arrows on the tiles move.
* In Diamond there are no longer stoppers, and the player will spin until he/she hits a wall. Hypothetically, if one uses a walk through walls cheat in one of these games and steps on a spinner, they'll keep spinning through solid objects and infinitely into the Mystery Zone until they either turn off the code or the game or go too far out of boundaries, causing the game to freeze.
