Public information (TCG)
Public information is information related to a Pokémon Trading Card Game match that is readily accessible by either player at any time (as long as such requests are not used for stalling). Public information includes:
- All cards in play:
- Pokémon (including any evolutionary stages underneath)
- Energy cards
- Trainer cards (including Supporters, Stadiums, Tools, and any regular Trainers in play)
- The cards in each player's discard pile and Lost Zone
- Any face-up Prize cards
- The number of cards in a player's hand, deck, or remaining Prize cards
- The format being played[1]
If a player has a card that allows them to search their deck for a specific card or cards, that effect may not be used if all of the applicable targets for the search effect are currently identifiable through public information.[2] This may result in certain Trainer cards becoming unable to be played in some scenarios.
When cards such as Cedric Juniper or Blaine's Quiz 3 are played, which ask the opponent to guess a property of an unknown card, the opponent may access any public information, which could provide hints to the property of the unknown card.[3]
