In both fields, there is a Pokémon Mart Gate by default (the entrance to the Pokémon Mart). However, in each Field, it has different designs and mechanics. That Gate converted into an Evo Gate if the player lights up the three Evolution Arrows (the three triangles with "EVO" written on them) by throwing the ball through the Left Loop (the outer passage at the left) from bottom to top.

In the Ruby Field, the building at the top right corner is a Pokémon Mart by default. The player is able to convert it into a Pokémon Center that contains the Evo Gate by turning the three Evolution Arrows on. To enter the Pokémon Mart, the player is required to hit the Mart Gate once to open it and then once more to enter it and buy an item; when the player buys an item, the Gate closes again. The Gate remains open when the Evo Mode is ready.
Sapphire Field mechanics
- Main article: Plusle Switch and Minun Switch
In the Sapphire Field, there is a passage at the middle of the Plusle Switch and Minun Switch, which serves as the Pokémon Mart Gate by default. The player is able to convert it into an Evo Gate by turning the three Evolution Arrows on. To enter the Pokémon Mart, the player is required to hit both the Plusle Switch and the Minun Switch to turn off their electricity; when the player buys an item, they block the Gate again. The Gate remains open when the Evo Mode is ready.
