Pokémon Game Tip Cards (Black Diamond)

Pokémon Game Tip Collector Cards were Pokémon cards distributed in packages of Lactalis cheese products in Canada on September 1998, launching along with the release of Pokémon Red and Blue in Canada. Each package of cheese contained one of 4 game tip cards as well as a potential winning coupon for one of several Pokémon-related prizes, including Game Boy Color consoles (the fine print saying the Gameboy Color would not be shipped out till November 1998) and Pokémon video games. Non-winning coupons offered a $0.30 discount on the purchase of Black Diamond cheese. Contest started August 1998 and ended July 1999.

There are 2 variants of the cards. The early Lactantia printed ones from the province of Ontario and Quebec and the later more mass produced for the rest of Canada via Black Diamond labeled cards.

These were the very first Pokemon cards released in North America.
