It was revealed that Gogoat was Alexa's first Pokémon; she caught it after it helped her get back up a cliff to her campsite. Since then, the two of them have traveled together and they seem to share a very close bond.
Gogoat is often seen walking with Alexa, giving her easy access to any equipment she may need for work. In A Pokémon of a Different Color!, Alexa even rode atop Gogoat to find things to report on.
In Go, Go Gogoat!, Gogoat was briefly left under the care of Ash, Iris, and Cilan while Alexa was reporting on the Pokémon Center. Gogoat was emotionally distant towards the group, who knew very little about its species. Gogoat was approached by a young boy named Tony, who communicated with it by touching Gogoat's horns. Gogoat then took Tony on a journey to see his father. Eventually, Ash and Alexa caught up to them. Later on, the gang, Tony, and his parents were reunited. Tony was able to give his father a drawing of a Braviary, which they all watched as it was projected on to the night sky.
Gogoat and Alexa have been together for a long time. Their relationship is shown to be quite sweet since the moment they first met and Gogoat instantly clicked with her. During their travels, Alexa has relied on Gogoat to look after her, often keeping better track of her things than Alexa does herself (like telling Alexa where her equipment is). Gogoat has been shown to be distant from others, including Ash and Iris even after traveling with them for a while, but Gogoat warms up to people who show it their mind through touching its horns. As shown in Go, Go Gogoat! during Gogoat's adventure with Tony, it is valiant and quick to give help to those who need it. Gogoat has also been shown to be quite playful with people it has grown to trust, mainly Alexa.
