When you've got pages like [[Pokémon Sandwich]] (with 3 columns), [[toi et moi]] (left aligned and with 2 columns), and [[Can You Name All the Pokémon? BW#Lyrics]] (centered and only 2 columns), the difference can be kind of glaring. It would be great if all J/E lyrics had a standard format, and the best way to do that is of course with a template. | |||
I've taken the liberty of making a [[User:Tiddlywinks/Template:JELyrics|JELyrics template]], and I've put it on the [[Can You Name All the Pokémon? BW]] page for the first set of lyrics. If you compare the version [[Can You Name All the Pokémon? BW#TV_Size_.28BW026_-_BW051.29|with the template]] to the version [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w/index.php?title=Can_You_Name_All_the_Pok%C3%A9mon%3F_BW&oldid=1972094#TV_Size_.28BW026_-_BW051.29 without], you'll see that they're exactly the same...or mostly so, I guess. (I figure it's something to do with the fact that the current version has the "Edit" link or something like that.) But if you compare the tables in the preview pane, there really is no difference...except a newline at the end that I was lazy about. | |||
I want to put that template on all Japanese song pages to standardize J/E lyrics, and as head of [[Project Music]], I thought it might be good to ask your approval before I went and did that everywhere. (Although, honestly, I'm not sure I'll sustain great enthusiasm for it for long. But still, if you approved the template, at least other people could use that to add standardized J/E lyrics in the future (or update extant lyrics).) | |||
I also wasn't sure if I "should" create a template in the mainspace, though it seems I ''could have''. So if this template is actually going to be put to use, you or I should probably move it. If you approve the template (and don't move it yourself - and also don't say it shouldn't be moved), I'll take that as tacit acknowledgement that the template would be fine to move into the mainspace and do so.
