Standardizing "Available Pokémon"

I'd like to update the formatting of the walkthroughs that have been done, but I've noticed for games that have three versions there doesn't seem to be much consistency in which Pokémon are included in the walkthroughs. In some cases, only the Pokémon found in the game(s) that the walkthrough focuses on are included, while in other cases the Pokémon from other version(s) are included. I figure there should be some sort of standard for these and I see three possible ways of going about it:

  • The data for all three games is included, meaning the list can be copied unaltered from the location page. So, for the Diamond and Pearl walkthrough, the Platinum data would be included.
  • The data for the other game or games is only included when it matches with the game(s) the walkthrough is concerned with. For the Diamond and Pearl walkthrough, data for Platinum would only be included when it is the same as either Diamond or Pearl. (It might be better to just glance at the example to understand this one...)
  • Only the data for the game or games the walkthrough is concerned with is included. For the Diamond and Pearl walkthrough, no data from Platinum would be included, even when it overlaps with either Diamond or Pearl.

I think that the last option would be best because it presents only the necessary information for the walkthrough. The first and second options contain information that is irrelevant and if a reader is interested in the available Pokémon for other games they can simply click a link in the walkthrough to go to the page of the location they are curious about. Additionally, the second option may be misleading if the reader assumes it is presenting all the information for the other game or games.--The Plausible Farfetch'd 07:21, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

I think the best way is to only include info that is relevant to the version(s) in question, like adding only Diamond & Pearl availability for the DP walkthrough. Even if the other version(s) of a region has the same encounter rates, it doesn't make much sense to have Crystal rates in the Gold & Silver guide, for example - it's just extra, unnecessary info cluttering things up. If someone needs to find all available Pokémon for a certain location, there are pages outside of the walkthroughs that deal with that. Also, if there are Pokémon normally found in an area, but cannot be encountered until later (like an early route with a pond, but surfing/fishing cannot happen until later), that encounter data doesn't need to be added. By the time the player can surf, fish, or dive, then they're not concerned with the early walkthrough pages anymore - they'll be using the location or species articles to track things down.
Hope that made sense. Thanks for the help, by the way. — KC 10:31, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Righto, the surfing and fishing thing is a good idea too.--The Plausible Farfetch'd 20:53, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Question

Hi. Me again. Were you led here because of Tavisource cuz you used to be a normal contributor at Pokemon Wikia before you were here. Slipknot Darkrai 20:09, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky Walkthrough

Since there is some stuff going on Post-Story, should we merge that together with the final chapter, or should we make separate articles? -- ☆YoshisWorld☆ 22:36, 7 August (UTC)

Split them up. Post-story extras can have their own page. — KC 17:33, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Pokémon Rumble Blast Walkthrough?

I don't own the game yet (combination of not being out in my country and shipping issues) but should I make notes and start constructing a walkthrough when I do get it? It is completely unlisted on To-do so I thought I'd ask. Happy to help, Epsilonexus 16:39, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Certainly. The To-Do list just needed some updating. — KC 12:37, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Is it just me, or...

The total number of completed walkthroughs is one out.--Chalkwriter 17:44, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

So it was. Fixed. — KC 15:30, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Platinum walkthrough

Hello KCorp4000, I'm a new user here on Bulbapedia, Deruffy, and I think your walkthroughs are fantastic and I wanted to know how often do you udpate your walkthroughs, more specifically the Platinum walkthrough? PS.: I'm brazilian, so my English may be a little bad.--Deruffy 04:31, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Deruffy, and thanks for the compliment. School takes up a lot of my time, especially early in the week, so I try to update as much as I can on the weekends. Was there a part of the Platinum walkthrough that you thought needs attention? I'm still working to update the older guides, so I haven't spent much time on the newer games yet. Your English is fine, by the way. — KC 10:55, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Walkthrough editing

Hey KCorp4000, it's Deruffy again, I edited some pages like Pidgeot's Name Origin with fonts of other Pokémon sites and I like to know if I could edit your walkthroughs with parts that I elaborated from other sites such as Psypokes.--Deruffy 02:21, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
