'''The Black Arachnid''' (Japanese: '''怪盗猫八''' ''The Phantom Thief {{tt|Nekohachi|Cat Eight}}'') was a cat burglar and one of the greatest thieves in the history of [[Johto]]. He appeared as a [[character of the day]] in a flashback in ''[[EP123|Spinarak Attack]]''.

Operating out of [[Catallia City]] 100 years ago, the Black Arachnid was a clever, quick, and agile thief who employed a {{p|Meowth}} to help him pick locks. The two stole many priceless treasures and always used {{m|Pay Day}} to cause a distraction long enough to scare away the police and make their getaway.

An [[Officer Jenny]] apprehended the pair with her {{p|Spinarak}}'s strong webs, and to this day, all of the police officers of Catallia City use Spinarak as a tribute to her.
