"An" before vowels

Not sure how this would be coded, but is there any chance we can get this template's first line (about starting moves) to use "an" instead of "a" in front of Pokemon names that start with vowels? It currently says things like "a Aurorus" and it just looks terrible. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 23:54, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

To do this, you can replace: by a {{{1|Missingno.}}} with by a{{#switch:{{uc:{{padleft:|1|{{{1|Missingno.}}}}}}}|A|E|I|O|U=n|}} {{{1|Missingno.}}}. For example, if the Pokemon is Missingno., it comes out as by a Missingno., and if it's Electabuzz, it comes out as by an Electabuzz. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:20, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
That's a good solution except for the two exceptional cases of a Uxie (since Uxie is pronounced starting with a Y sound like "you") and an Yveltal (assuming Yveltal is pronounced analogously to its Japanese name's kana; I suppose the dub could change it to "why-vell-tal", though). I can't think of a proper way to code it except to somehow include an override switch so on those exceptional pages, it can be forced to use the correct one. (Also, I can't change it myself because the page is locked.) Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 02:31, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
I wasn't actually suggesting you change it, I was just leaving it there for whoever could (and wanted to). It's entirely trivial to account for any specific odd cases, though, if so desired. There's nothing special about it, just check if it's one of those and do the right thing for them, otherwise default to the generic thing (above). Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:57, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Can someone who's not prevented from editing the template please add the aforementioned code for names that start with vowels? We can figure out the odd cases like Uxie and Yveltal later. N. Harmonik (talk) 20:12, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

"Start"

Since we appear to have done away with the level of "Start" in favor of just using level 1 in the template itself, shouldn't that first line here be removed? Sneaking from page to page... It's the page-editing purple ghost... Gengarzilla! 21:18, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
