The Network Machine (Japanese: ネットワークマシン Network Machine) is a machine located at the Pokémon Net Center in One Island on Knot Island in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. Its programmer is Celio, one of Bill's close friends and admirers.

The Network Machine

The machine allows players to trade with Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. When first encountered, it is not operational at all because of some issues in the system. With the help of Bill, the machine is fixed, allowing access to the Pokémon Storage System in the Sevii Islands. However, as the Ruby and Sapphire have not been installed, its communication with other regions is limited to Kanto. Once the Ruby and Sapphire are retrieved by the player, the machine will function to its fullest, allowing communication with Hoenn and, by extension, Orre. However, the National Pokédex must be obtained, the Pokémon League defeated, and the Rainbow Pass must be obtained.

Data

Three levels of data are shown on the machine's display. The level shown depends on the progress of the player.

The first level is shown as soon as the player arrives at One Island for the first time, when Bill guides him/her to the Pokémon Net Center in order to meet his friend Celio.

The second level is shown once Bill has helped Celio in One Island and grants access to the Pokémon Storage System as well as allowing communication with Kanto. More precisely, it is shown once the player has rescued Lostelle from the wild Hypno at Berry Forest on Kin Island. When reached, the red, green and blue lights on the front of the machine will flash on and off.
