Synopsis

Template:Incomplete synopsis Finally, the day of the Snowpoint Gym battle is here! The Gym Leader Candice announces the battle will be 4-on-4. Ash's chosen Pokémon are Grotle, Staraptor, Gliscor, and Chimchar. He sends out Grotle to combat Candice's Sneasel, which uses the ice to accelerate and overwhelm Grotle with its speed. Ash remembers the teachings of Paul's Torterra and the battle starts. Will Ash obtain the Icicle Badge?

• This is the first time Buizel isn't used in a Gym battle since it was obtained.
• This is the first official Gym Battle of both Staraptor and Grotle since their evolution.
• Like in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, Ubukata uses his Skuntank to go through a small opening and use its ability on the foe.
• Regigigas replaces Darkrai in the first part of the preview of the next episode.
• This is the third Gym Battle in a row where Chimchar defeats two of the Gym Leader's Pokémon. All of these battles have involved Chimchar defeating one of the Gym Leader's Pokémon, being temporarily recalled and then being reused to defeat the second Pokémon.
• An instrumental version of Advance Adventure is used as background music.
