|desc=The Captain's {{p|Gastly}} first appeared on the [[ghost ship]] along with {{p|Haunter}} scaring {{TRT}}, who had the [[Winner's Trophy]], and taking it from the Gas Pokémon. It was seen playing with [[Misty's Togepi]], when {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} tried to take the trophy. Suddenly Team Rocket appeared and sent out {{TP|Jessie|Arbok}} and {{TP|James|Victreebel}}, but they ended up fainting. Gastly then created an illusion along with Haunter, showing them the story of their owner. The trophy on his bedside table is what Gastly guarded until divers took it, and it made the ship return to the surface to recover it.

With the help of Ash and his friends, it sent Team Rocket blasting off. In the end it along with Haunter telekinetically flew the ship to a place where nobody would try and steal the trophy again.
