Utaro (Japanese: Unknown) was one of the Pokémon that Gold has captured in the Pokémon Special manga.

History

Utaro was captured whilst on a race around Goldenrod City with Whitney, the local gym leader. The two competitors soon reached an enormous tree, that neither of the trainers' Pokémon could move. Suddenly, a large Rhyhorn bursts out and Whitney stupidly tries to stop it, getting herself carried away by it. The strange tree reacted strangely to Poltaro's Water Gun attack and shrinks down to size. Gold then finds out that Sudowoodo was hiding from Rhyhorn and they go after it, defeating it and saving Whitney.
