Archives user page redirect

Could you please tell me how I could redirect my Archives userpage to my Bulbapedia userpage? I tried it with the regular redirect page style, but it didn't work. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 06:53, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

I did some testing with the preview button to make it match mine and it turns out that the curly braces need to be replaced with square brackets and replace | with :. Give it a try, I hope it works. PattyMan 19:49, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
I gave it a whirl, and indeed it worked. Thanks a lot for your help! :) --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 20:50, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Friendly reminder

Hiya, just a friendly reminder from me and other users to be careful when dealing with untranslated Japanese. While it's definitely helpful to add missing information however you are able, be careful to avoid errors or misinformation. It can be more damaging to have potentially wrong or mixed-up information than none at all. There are a lot of things I'd like to add myself, but have not yet due to my limited understanding of Japanese, so I'm holding off until I can be certain that the information is accurate and not missing any important details. Thanks for your continued recent contributions of scans tho :) as I mentioned, I've been wanting to get rid of those MPJ gifs since time and it's much appreciated. let me know if you have any questions \o/ --ZestyCactus 02:32, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the reminder. I'm not sure if this is allowed but I got one of the names, Senpai, here, and the other ones that turned out to be Japanese words according to Tiddlywinks from the pages related to the link. Feel free to remove the link if its not allowed. Ataro did the right thing when he contacted you even though the way it was worded signified that I continued after being told beforehand, but that wouldn't matter in this case. At least he mentioned it politely unlike another user who got told on twice due to the addition of rude remarks. I went ahead and removed the names in the HIBAPC characters template to avoid false information. Feel free to delete the pages and images. I have one question; for the moves, was it okay to add them if they were from a Japanese-only manga since I went on Bulbapedia to check what they were before adding them? PattyMan 03:27, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Moves are awesome cause when they appear in manga, they're named and spelled exactly the same as in the Japanese games when they're called out. This made it extremely easy for me to identify the moves in Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl as all I had to do was check the move's page to confirm the same spelling to know that, cool, Dawn really did command Piplup to use BubbleBeam or whatever. So moves are definitely legit to keep if they were checked out in that method.
Regarding Senpai, what I get from that is that he might not have a name (or if he does, it's somewhere in all that Japanese on the page you've shown me) as senpai is an honorific used for an upperclassman (see Sr. and Jr.'s Japanese name as an example) or, in the workplace, a worker who is more senior in the company than the worker who is addressing them as senpai in the first place. (using wiki staff as a boring example, Ataro would theoretically address me in Japanese as senpai as I am his senior on the Bulbapedia staff, likewise, I would address him as kōhai as he is my junior). My guess is that he doesn't have a name and is referred as senpai as he is the most senior of all the scientists/researchers that appeared in that chapter. Again, this is my estimate and shouldn't be published as official information by any means until someone with more knowledge of Japanese than either of us can read the chapter and confirm it :P I would suggest keeping the images for now as from the looks of it he does have a major impact on the plot and the images are definitely useful (the picture of the Old Amber could probably be added to the respective page...) we just need to come up with a decent conjectural title, or at least find some way to indicate that senpai isn't his real name. :P --ZestyCactus 03:58, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
If you'd like, we could move the senpai page to the userspace so we can work on it rather than go through the delete/restore hassle, then move it back to the mainspace once enough information is available. --ZestyCactus 04:05, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Good idea. PattyMan 04:10, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Cats

Hello,

As you're reverting my cat fixes, I'd like to discuss it here. The reason for my edits is to fix the grammar; "James's" is completely incorrect. Yet, despite this, you said "That's how it's supposed to be." Unless this site has decided to not use proper grammar anymore, I'm pretty sure it belongs in a "James' Pokemon" category. --FireGambit (talk) 17:26, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

A little reminder

Whilst I know why you edited my talk page, but can you please give me at least five minutes? I was typing up my response when you made that edit. Thank you.--ForceFire 06:12, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

I was going to apologize on your talk page but you beated me here. Still, my apologies for giving you the edit conflict. I thought I waited the right amount of time to put in the {{unsigned}} template, but it turned out I rushed. I have one request, there are five images of Team Plasma's Pokémon in the anime that have Plasma Grunt in their name, can you change them to Team Plasma? PattyMan 06:20, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Apology accepted. I'll also move the images to the requested file name.--ForceFire 06:26, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

Ahem.

OK, I'm going to ask this once. This was translated into English? When. Ataro (talk) 04:39, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

There was an English version on jb2448's site that had that in English. It didn't tell me when it was released in English, nor if the translations were unofficial or not. PattyMan 13:46, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
Uh oh, just noticed on the Pokémon universe page mentioned that it wasn't released in English so the translations on jb2448 turned out to be unofficial. Looks like we'll have to move them back to their Japanese name(s). PattyMan 13:58, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

{{inuse}}

If there is an inuse template on a page, do not edit. Your adding Noivern to the GoogleDex ruined another user's large edit by causing an edit conflict. Instead, wait until the notice is removed, so you won't ruin another user's large edit. Thank you. Berrenta (talk) 08:02, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Shoot, I didn't see the template until I added Noivern. That was a one-time thing I did anyway, but I'll be more careful in the future. PattyMan 15:04, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

Daz/Dolan

While I initially also went ahead changing Daz into Dolan, Senior Admin G50 has now specifically told me we can't trust Pokémon.com as a source for dub names anymore. So do not change it elsewhere, I'll go ahead and change back everything. Thanks and happy editing! ☼ BlazingFist ☼ 01:51, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the reminder. However, there has been several conflicts regarding the dub name situation that the site is reliable such as this and it isn't such as what happened with Natasha/Nanette so I believe someone should write it down as part of the anime policy before they continue and more users get thrown off. PattyMan 02:03, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Moving pages due to a character sharing a name with a Japanese character

If the English name of a character clashes with the Japanese name of a non-major character, that existing character page should not be moved. You moved Randy (anime) to Randy (Hoenn) because of a character in the XY anime with the Japanese name Randy. (While it was a while ago, I only just noticed it.) It just adds more unnecessary work to move all the pages back afterwards if the English name isn't the same as the Japanese name, so please don't do this in future. --SnorlaxMonster 13:13, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

Chapter article question

I've been recently adding kana/kanji to Manga articles, and I've noticed something that you seemed to do when creating alot of those articles that I don;t quite understand. Why is it that in the title_en parameter of the {{Chapterinfobox}} template, the single exclamation points in the titles are surrounded by nowiki tags? I can't see any real purpose... Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 21:26, 4/14/2014 (UTC)

When I left the exclamation points w/o the nowiki tags, they caused the template to add an extra column. PattyMan 23:53, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank You

With PMRS35, I had figured that one kana was a む, but I just wasn't sure. Also, I can't figure out what the second to last one on PMRS46 is..... Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 18:16, 4/20/2014 (UTC)

Not a problem for PMRS35. As for PMRS46, the て was the closest match for the second to last kana. PattyMan 21:33, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
It was actually こ instead of て. PattyMan 21:35, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Hoenn anime edits

Uh, why are you turning a bunch of Trainer Pokémon links into redirects? At least leave some explanation if you do. --TheVeryBest 04:15, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

The Trainer's Pokémon are supposed to be linked to the form they were in at the time, not the current form. This is also shown here. PattyMan 15:39, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
Understood. I'm not gonna enforce that silly rule, but okay. --TheVeryBest 17:19, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
