Protean (Japanese: へんげんじざい Protean) is an Ability introduced in Generation VI. So far, only four Pokémon are known to have this Ability.

Effect

In battle

A Pokémon with Protean will change its type so that it is the same as the move it uses. It will change both types of a dual-type Pokémon that has this Ability. A Pokémon with Protean will not change type when using Struggle.

Outside of battle

It is unknown if Protean has an effect outside of battle.
